Hi best to check with Dr just in case there is start of infection. Especially if wound is red etc.   swelling we've been told can take weeks to go away....   Hope all goes well for you

    Hi Dawn,

Definitely tell your doctor about this just in case it is an infection. However, I wanted to share with you that I too experienced what you describe and it was my scar being too dry. So I began rubbing my scar with Bio oil and Scar Gel which helped very much.

Happy healing and let us know how this goes for you.

When I have burning pain it has been nerve pain.

Mine was also sensitive to touch..

TO distinguish between infection and nerve pain.

Nerve pain does not have any redness, or oozing from the incision and no swelling.skin actually looks normal.

However with infection developing the skin feels warmer than normal.May be swelling, hardness ,oozing from incision.

But the best thing is tell your doctor and make observations and right them down.that will help him to decide what is happening before he sees you.best of luck.

Is it hot to the touch, or livid?  Mine felt taut and v uncomfortable and I thought there was an instrument or dressing left n there!  It's still bad but I think due to being stretched so much under the scar. The body gets used to it.. I'm 18 months. Check with the hosp..   Swelling... I agree with Mary, raise your leg 3x p day for an hour. That was  hosp  instructions. Massage the lower leg.. The Chinese say the arteries of the leg are the second heart! Worked for me..

If your scar is very red and feels hot to the touch and there is swelling, then I think you have an infection.  If not, then as other have said, it is probably the nerves knitting themselves together.  I would have a word with your GP just in case.  Hope everything will be fine.

Those are good because compression socks help prevent clots in leg from forming. The blood in the legs in returned via tiny valves in the veins , and to work right when you are inactive there needs to be movement of the leg ,  even if it's just occasionly doing some flexing and extending of the foot . If the blood doesn't move much, like when you are bedridden or traveling a long time, a dangerous clot can form. Thats where the socks come in.
