5 weeks post lateral ligament reconstruction, pain on the increase?

Good morning, Would love some advice please & apologies if this has been covered but I had surgery 5 weeks ago, ligament reconstruction & bone from alvulsion fracture removed following what I was told sprain in August last year,  no treatment given at all at the time then was referred when swelling /pain was still evident 4 months later. Subsquent MRI showed alvulsion fracture and ligament damage. Two rounds of cortisone worked initially but pain/instabitlty  came back.

Following surgery in early June I was 12 days back slab and coming up to 4 weeks in weeks air boot. I am at the point with just under a week to go but now experiencing more pain, swelling &  pins and needles than ever. Is this normal?

I have been weight bearing with boot on and had used crutches for support especially out of house. Did have a fall couple of weeks ago when boot was off but although hurt at the time didn’t cause any lasting damage.

However now having to rely on crutches more especially to ease the pain when walking as do about 10 minutes max  and have to stop and raise the foot. As advised by DR, I do take boot off when resting & at night & ice when needed.

I am just hoping the increase is  normal due to healing process  but getting very frustrated as I was hoping pain would be decreasing as time went on.  Thanks for reading and hope someone can put my mind at rest.

interested to see the replies to this discussion. I had ORIF surgery to fix three breaks in my ankle on January 31st of this year, however I was told this week that I may be headed for the same surgery that you just had. I ruptured all of my lateral ligaments on top of the breaks that I had and I had an avulsion fracture that healed, but the bone is actually longer then it originally was so its pinchibg against my talus.
