5 Weeks post op.

Morning all, Well 5 weeks today post op. seen the Physio last Monday, she said I could turn on my side in the night, so long as I had pillows between my knees and ankles, I still toss and turn most of the night but manage to stay in bed until 5 am. and thats about the norm for me anyway.  walking well with one crutch, still limp if I try to walk without it. I can walk perhaps about half mile, guess what "thats where my local pub is" thins are looking up. See the Consultant for my 6 week check up 7th May (7 weeks) hopefully all clear to drive etc. As soon as we can, we intend to jump on a plane go somewhere nice and hot. "warm sand, warm sea, cold Beer" yum yum, My target now in to walk without a crutch and without a limp. What a great forum this is , I think I may have gone mad without this past 5 weeks. Keep doing your exercises folks !!.

I have been sleeping on my side for a while with a pillow between my knees - It is getting used to - still tossing and turning and waking up frequently to check if my leg is not crossing the danger zone .... it seems that you are making great progress ... keep on walking !

    Hi Brian,

    Great progress......

funny how I never was given a red light about sleeping on my back, and not side, which would have been very hard anyway, but glad you finally can sleep on yr side too! I need my 8 hours .....

    Yes, great forum!

Wish me luck on monday for my '6 week check' at 8 weeks. I hope to get the green light to restart gym personal training then. Other things I began at 6 weeks cos I felt confident to do so, given advice is totally diferent in diff parts of UK,

    Warm regards

    Mic

    Well done Brian

Crutchless will come - if you know what I mean lol !

I'm 13 weeks today and completely crutchless but I've still got a slight limp sometimes when I'm tired or just got up after sitting for too long.

It was about 5 weeks for me when I started to feel I was able to do things but I still see improvements weekly.

Take care and enjoy your holiday in the sun when the time comes.

      Hi Christine, Brian,

I love the way most of us are going onwards and upwards....only hope my sunderland can do the same and stay in the Premiership!

I'm taking alexandra lessons to keep my posture upright. Advised in them if i sense a limp coming on I stop, breathe, then very slowly walk forward as if on water!

      Take care

      Hi mic

      "Walking on water ! "

Now that's a feat, I do concentrate when at work, walking to tea room as its a long room so i stand up straight try to walk correctly, then I don't limp, I suppose I do feel like I'm gliding which is probably similar.

I'm hoping Norwich can make it back into the premiership this season, its going to!the wire now ..... Nail biting stuff !

      Have a nice day.
