5 weeks post op

Hello hippies.
This may be completely unrelated to my op but I feel really under the weather at the moment and have done for a few days. Lightheaded is the main symptom (not all the time) and just so tired!
Because I recovered very quickly at first -was literally walking normally without even a stick at 3 weeks, going up and down stairs normally etc - I think I may have overdone it slightly last week. Is it likely this slightly unwell feeling is exhaustion? It doesn't feel like I did that much! I did go back to my work for half a day and went on public transport a few times that also involved a fair bit of walking. I guess I already know the answer but it's do difficult to sort out what might be to do with the surgery and something unrelated.
Hope you're all recovering well.

Yes, it sounds like exhaustion. The light headed feeling is often connected to low blood sugars - your body is using enormous amounts of energy to heal, so if you start running about and using that energy for other stuff, you will deplete your resources much faster. And tired - that's a big clue! Since my op the actual one big change I've had is that I could sleep for England! I have always slept really well, but only about 6 - 7 hours normally. Now it's much much more. I can easily do 8 or 9. You heal faster asleep too (body not busy doing much else). So if you are overdoing it your body is going to tell you it wants to stop and rest!

There is s lot of blood loss during surgery.
Or maybe your over doing youth activity and the body is saying slow down.

Wow work already! I'm not going back until 12 weeks are up. I'm using the time to do my recovery to make sure all my exercises are done as advised. I'm jealous of anyway who can sleep more than 4 hours at a time during the recovery as I've not had that yet 😕
I think if you're feeling unwell then it's either the onset of a virus or something or just your body telling you to slow down a bit x

Hi Jenny.
I'm 10 weeks post op. I only work the hours I want to. Went back at 8 weeks. I knew what I could handle and not. Too much driving and sitting at a desk for too long is a killer.
I felt better at 3/4 weeks. They are still trying to give me more work but I am being realistic and saying no.
Sounds like you are doing too much too early. You will go 2 steps forward then 3 back and get all sorts of deferred pain as your muscles and nerves start to heal.
This is not so apparent in the early weeks. So rest up girl and take it easier. Love and hugs. Xxx

Jernny:
I had an anterior approach THR almost 3 weeks ago (3 weeks this coming Monday). I am amazed on how well I feel and the lack of pain and mobility provided by this procedure. But, this can be misleading. Feeling better provides confidence to push too much too early. I am feeling like I don't need a cane as well. But I use one anyway. I was reminded at my 2 week post-op visit not to wash the area and at one month start aqua excercises and that it was way early on in the recovery process. I am also consistent on the PT exercises that were prescribed.
If that doesn't keep me in check, I read/ think about a revision surgery which puts things in perspective. As my doc's mantra keeps going through my head" less is more" early on in this recovery process that may take a year to be fully complete.
Temper yourself in your recovery process and listen to your body. As I do, you'll want this replacement to last a long time.
godspeed your recovery,

Also are you still taking any meds post-op? If so, check the side effects. Dizziness can be because of low blood presure and/or other effects of the mneds you are taking.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure it's a combination of overdoing it and perhaps a low level virus and/or anaemia. I'm not taking any meds and haven't done for three weeks do it's not that.
I'll take it easy and scale back on things. I don't have to go back to work (I only went for a few hours last week) until I'm ready. I just thought I was!
