I'm just over 3 weeks post op. Been walking with one stick since last Friday. Yes finding it more tiring and more achy. I'm putting it down to using different muscles that are still healing.

      Hi Barbara,

I think early post OP ( making this up for me I will say between week 3-6)

it is easy to overdue and set yourself back. I say listen to you body let it heal and rest when needed, do not continue to push on, take the time needed to rest.   Good luck Annette

Hi Barbara I was 5 wks post op last Tuesday so that's good to have someone else at the same stage as every one is different . I pushed myself by taking my little dog for a walk with no crutches as I have been walking about indoors with out them but feel it wasn't the best idea I've had, just go at what's you feel comfortable with. 😊

it is good to have someone at the same stage - I just took my dog for a walk I use a cane when outside: did a mile for the first time and it was a bit too much I think I'm on heating pad now - I had to have some fluid drained last week scar is still sore

I have walked about a mile with my hubby but had my crutch but I'm still taking pain killers and my operative leg has still got fluid from my knee down to my ankle not a awful lot but better than it was, I wonder If I've tried  to do to much to soon , coz I have pushed myself a lot.

No. don't push yourself. I am 8 weeks po. I did what I could but rested frequently with ice and took Tylenol Arthritis. Noticed a big difference last week. There are still things I need to be careful with but every week is better. They tell me it could take months before you are 100%.

You're still early in the heeling process. Physio is important to build muscle tendons and core muscles.

Dont push if painful. Stop when you feel pain or in many cases will over do and experience set back.

I encourage you to do what you can at your own pace as you begin to improve so will yourresolve to get thru the process to getting back to life.

    hi barbara,

sounds like you are doing really good, darling - great responses as well and in agreement that to listen to your body is the best thing to do - of course you tire easily and you might be for some time to come -

healing from a major invasive surgery like this takes a lot of energy from the body - not only the healing of trauma, accepting the foreign objects etc. but also the awakening of long-time-not used muscles ...

tender loving care and kindness to yourself - allow healing to take place..

    big warm hug

    renee
