5 weeks today!!!

This time 5 weeks ago in was still numb after op and oblivious as to what was to come!!

i went to hydro this evening which I thoroughly enjoyed, exercises are so much easier in the water. She said I was doing well so has pushed me and said I might be a bit sore tomorrow. I felt like a dead weight coming out of the water. Two more to go, but now I know what to do I can do it in the swimming baths.

I was was in a bit of a predicament this morning so drove the car for the first time. It was ok but I am glad I didn't have to go far. I reckon by 6 weeks it will be fine. Looking forward to being independent again

i just want to thank everyone on here for getting me through, especially the first two weeks, the nights when I felt so alone. There was always someone to share with, moan, offload or just be there

i feel I am well on the way to getting my life back.

good luck to all of you out there

i think Ian goes in. Tomorrow, good luck Ian let us know how you get on

goodnight one and all

lots of love

    Dear Carol,

yes this forum is a life saver! Five weeks is still very early on and you are doing well.

It's lovely to drive again and to be able to go into the swimming pool...I know what you mean by "dead weight" coming out of the water! It will get better for all of us...

    Have a peaceful evening

    Big hugs

    Hi Carol

Yep hydro therapy is the best. Can't wait till I start mine

You might feel heavy after but it is so much better and you can do so much more with the water taking your weight off the hip.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Sleep well. x

    Hi Carol,

Good to hear about the hydro, I'm starting Tuesday and looking forward to the warm water. It's winter here and the cold on my legs is making me very stiff.

This certainly is a life giving back type of surgery, some days I forget how I was before and catch myself doing something 'normally'. Other times I have to remember to do things normally because my hip actually works now and isn't as painful!!

This forum is also a life saver, it fills the gap between the health professionals and the lack of information we get.

    Hippy days ahead biggrin

    dear carol ...

amazing, isn't it, how time goes by so fast ... looking back and 5 weeks are gone - I know,   days and nights can be long - we get frustrated and dperessed and upset when we feel we are not moving fast enough --- but when you put it into perspective once in a while, well, look at you now !

driving is Okay, however getting in and out of the car still is challenging - small car - low seats -

have good night with hours of uninterrupted sleep -

    warm hug

      Hi renee

luckily I bought my car with parents in mind so the seats are nice and high. I was worried about braking but it was ok

      best wishes.

      Hi Lynn

i was lucky enough to go privately (my Christmas present from mum!!!)

there were 6 Physio included in package. She asked me if I would like to try hydro, I jumped at the chance.  The pool was 35 degrees.

Good of luck to yo too
