5 weeks today

All going well. Last of the blood thinners today - luckily had tablets - so nice glass of wind at the weekend me thinks. No pain killers, can sleep on either side ( with cushion between knees) and pedometer says I have done 6444 steps so far today. One more week of restrictions (although I did forget yesterday and bend down to pick up a parcel off the floor - oops!). Another week and I will have my follow up appointment and prob return to work ( not looking forward to that). Physically doing great - but two ops in 6 months and the pain etc between have taken their toll - don't feel i' be bounced back mentally yet - still feel quite low.

Well done Shirley. If my op hadn't been rescheduled from August 11th til next Friday id be where u are now. It's great to hear Ur doing so well & realising Ur limitations. I was just saying that to hubby tonight  about dishwasher, washing machine, tumbler drier being below allowed level. I cannot wait to have it over me at this stage. Keep us posted on Ur recovery & enjoy that glass of wine/wind 😘

Hope all goes well on Friday . I guess that is the 24th not today ??

it is so frustrating having everything below level ! I can put things in and out of tumble dryer with my grabber stick and can put things on top shelf of dish washer lol

      keep us posted ☀️☀️☀️

Yes Jay next Friday. Getting very anxious now. I never realised how limited we will be. I could put things in top of dishwasher but already can't reach down to close the door, so after op I'll be stacking dishes etc until someone calls & I'll give them chores. Lol

I am in day 17 now and have to keep stopping myself doing things . I didn't realise quite how frustrated I would feel grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

so many things need doing here yet I can't !!!

dont be anxious because once over and you start the recovery you will be amazed at how quickly youn gain confidence and movement

. I think my husband is realising just how much I actually now that he has to do it lol

My hubby & adult children are in for an awaking during my recovery too. I'm hoping my age will be on my side (49). You sound like you're doing great after 2.5 weeks. Well done & keep up the good work.

Hey gossip. .. this op has opened my eyes.im youngish too and i had to fight to get this op. Im 7 days post op. Today i struggled thanks to a possible hip muscle strain from trying to sit up from layibg. I can see the elderly ( 80+) having extreme difficulty with this op.Its not easy! !

    That's great, Shirley,

I hope I'm feeling that good at 5 weeks post op. You are doing amazingly well!

I'm 3.5 weeks now and am starting to feel like things are coming together. It's great when you can begin to see just how worth it the whole thing has been.

Good luck for your continued good recovery.

Hi Ali - again it seems different hospitals different advice. With regard to the side sleeping I was told I could sleep on operated side as soon as it felt comfortable enough, and unoperated side provided I had a pillow between the knees to make sure no cross over of the operated side.

Decided to see how far I could walk outside without a stick this morning - managed about half a mile, and then a further half mile with the stick. Been out in the garden since and even done a little bit of weeding - with a long handled trowel. Feels good to be getting back to ' normal'.

Hope your recovery is going well. X

Gosh Shirly that is encoraging.  WEather so good today but I only managed a very short wakl as ankle so swollen.  2 ops in 6 months makes me ashamed of myself for being so 'needy'..wat work do you do?  You must be young...I am retired and 66.

Night hope we all sleep better than the night before!

I'm an accountant - not that young -58. (57 at the first op). Being off has made me really wish I didn't have to go back, but unfortunately don't get my pension till I'm 66.

Hope you have a good night. X

      Very young!

I had a much better night and has made a huge difference.  Cat was sick in the night ( again!)..and that is frustrating as can't bend to clear up but with kitchen roll and grabbers and determination dealt with most so when next poor vsitor came they only had to deal with stains..sorry hippsters.. but shows you can do most  when I thought I couldn't..I fought with the frying pan last night as grabbers wouldn't hold the weight ..gave up on the omellete and had pasta!  I think I nmight be putting weight on..

      Good night to us all
