5 weeks today on sertraline

Hi,

I’ve been on sertraline 5 weeks today and this last week my anxiety seems to of returned with a bang. I was okay week 3 week 4 that’s when it returned. People say it takes at least 6-8 weeks to level out. But should I get worse in week 5? Is this normal? I don’t know if I should go back to my GP to up my dose.

Thanks

Yes that is normal, it happened to me and alot others. If your anxiety doesn't decrease than you might need to increase your dosage. I started feeling better at week 8 , was a rollercoaster until than. I had to increase my dosage when I was 4 months in because I wasn't quite there yet, was feeling better but just needed alittle boost. Let your doctor know if you think you might need increase .

Hi Brenda. Thanks for your reply! Can I ask what dosage you moved to? It’s so frustrating isn’t it, I just want to feel better? It’s like one step forward, two steps back 😫 hopefully they’ll start to level out soon. Did you sometimes feel sick in your first few weeks from time to time? X

I am on 100 now, started on fifty. My stomach issues started when I upped my dose. I decided to take probiotics because you need to keep your stomach as healthy as possible, and to be frank i wasn't doing it. Our bodys are going threw alot right now, and when our bodys not happy neither are our minds. Talk to your doctor and see if you can try probiotics. I will try anything to feel like my old self again. And yes its like being a yoyo up and down. But hang in there and life will get easier.

Every time I increased side effects hit me and then I felt better but then side effects came back.

If wasn't till I reached 150mg that I felt better.

    Glad I stuck it out

Actually I’m thinking this is very common, I know I had this blip in my 5 or 6 week in.  Good news from what I’ve experienced and have heard from others it won’t last that long.

I started feeling a lot better around the 7th week but I’ve moved up to 75mg and now I’ve been on sertraline for about 10weeks and I feel almost 100%better!!

When did you move up to 75 if you don’t mind me asking? I have to see my GP next week so I’ll be on week 7 by then..

I’ve actually just been on 75 now for 6 days. Working my way up 100mg so one more day on 75 then I’ll go to my 100s. Went to 75 first to help with the side effects before jumping right into the 100mg.
