5 year itch suggestions welcome

Hi all

I have been suffering from an itchy anus now for 5 years, possibly longer.

The itch first started after a bout of external hemorrhoids which cleared up and i was left with this itch.

now i have tried nearly everything all of the over the counter creams, tea tree oil, savlon, germalene, sudocrem, TCP to no effect

Ive also tried rectogel, vaseline, capsaican cream, pranicura (from america £50 a tub).

i just cant seem to get rid of the itch.

capsiacan cream is the most effective with instant relief but it dries your skin out and doesnt heal the fissures.

vaseline helps repair damaged tissue but gives no relief to the itch.

pranicure/pranicura is not great, a very thick bright pink paste and i did the 4/5 week course to no avail.

i think i am suffering from some minor leaking which is causing the itch/scratch cycle and leading to me damaging the skin around my anus.

i itch in the anal canal and also all around my anus.

i am back in the doctors next week for the 4th time but they dont seem to be helping.

any suggestions ?

hello. your case sounds exactly what I went through. I tried almost all of those creams including the capsaican cream but no long lasting results. my doctor after doing a camera inspection confirmed I still had small internal hemroids about 1" in. too small to do anything with. I believe this hemroid caused minor anal leakage despite my best efforts. after years of going through agony and losing sleep we happened to install a bidet attachment. honestly it has changed my life. the water seems to clean up inside a tiny bit further then toilet paper and it stops the leaking and has basically cured me. the only time I ever have issues is when I am away from my bidet! if I have to go #2 at work or on vacation the itch comes back within an hour. I hope this helps and I strongly encourage you to give it a try!!!!

    Hi Oscar,

I had similar problems as well. I have been able to greatly reduce the symptoms by at first adding a fiber supplement to my diet. One heaped table spoon a day. That helped greatly. Last year though I changed my diet because of weight problems and started eating more Asian style foods such as rice, vegetables and a much reduced protein intake. I did this to reduce my consumption of processed foods. The result was for the most part the itching has stopped. I occasionally have a minor flare up when I am not careful what I eat. The symptoms can easily be addressed with a steroid cream and going back to a whole foods diet. I lost 25 lbs with the new diet and my bum stopped itching. Also I no longer need to take the fiber supplement. Hope this helps.

    Sincerely

    Brian

I had an itch for much longer. Nothing worked - you name it, I tried it. Then one day I had my toenail fungus treated. The doctor treated it via three methods: laser, topical antifungal and oral antifungal (Terbinafine) for a month. I swear the latter cured me. I've never had even close to a problem since.

i also have had a fungal nail infection on the same finger which i use to apply capsaican cream.

it is costing me £25 a month in LOCERYL to keep on top of that.

the doctors iv seen are useless, they want to send me for a blood test when ive already told them what i think it is.

i am now quite sure its a fungal infection.

Long time sufferer of anal itching here. I also had hemorrhoids and fissures too. I finally have the itching beat by using Metamucil (or any psyllium husk treatment for hard stools), tiny scoop of probiotic powder in a glass of water, and the death knell to it, a mix of zinc cream and ichtamol ointment for about 2 weeks. Just a small dab of both on your finger tip and rub it around. The relief was almost instant. It's finally gone and the only thing I'm doing now is using the psyllium husks (metamucil) to keep my stools soft. Hope this helps someone.
