i had hysterectomy 5 years ago next month, been on everol 50mg patches since 6 wks post op, i've not felt briiliant since having ovaries took away. i ended up going to a menstrual clinic in January, the gynae increased my patches to 75mg for first month and then 100mg after that and to include a 0.5mg of testosterone gel every other day. i've been on testosterone now 1 wk but having horrible side effects, sleeping only 4-5 hours each night, feeling heavier than ever, feel like i have a period due (horrible thick head and backache), tender nipples and a metallic taste on my tongue. ive read it can take 6/8 wks for my body to adjust but im wondering if i now have too much oestrogen? should i carry on using hrt as told by gyno? i dont see her for another month. will symptoms settle down? my gynae told me i have to increase hrt as if i didnt have enough the testosterone would not work correctly as it converts to oestrogen if not enough already in my body . i'm at my wits end

My endocrinologist tells me that women need a lot of estrogen (I am on pellets and patches when I need new pellets and have to wait. I do not take testosterone and in fact, I take an antiandrogen because of the problems it causes. Try reducing testosterone and perhaps eliminating it if it ends up suiting you to do.

PS: I had a hysterectomy and oopherectomy 30 years ago and have been on oestradiol ever since.
