50 years old and terrible hip pain and worried

Seems like yesterday when my surgeon said to me at the age of 11 after a severe slip in my left hip when he removed the three pins on my 15th birthday and I quote 'young lady there will be a nice hip replacement for you in years to come !!! I just laughed it off , I'm now awaiting an X-ray in a few days and an MRI as was unable to walk at all all last week going from a person whom walked miles with my dog every day now I'm limping about the house and constantly trying to find a comfortable position my back is now stiff as a board due to my limping and to be honest I'm terrified that I know have issues with my hip after all this time being active and eating well most of the time ! I was rushed into hospital when my hip gave way before the pins were put in the slip was completely out on the original X-ray you could see it quite clearly was off school for many months , think I have the original X-ray and pins in my loft ! I just suddenly feel that now at 50 nearly 51 my hip is hurting and just wanted to share and say I'm feeling pretty worried about the thought of surgery or am I worrying before the doctor has had a look at the scans and X-rays , thank you for reading , lisa

Dear Lisa,
I too had a slipped epiphysis but on the right leg! you are so lucky your hip has lasted so long!!! I had to have my right hip totally replaced in 1986.....first non cemented hip due to my cement allergies!!..... I am know 60 years old and that hip lasted 30 years before it broke and wore out. my bones are too sick for any repairs..... yours are not! Get that hip replaced asap..... reclaim the quality of your life....do it before the other injuries that bad hip can cause actually happen..... like your other hip from over work.... your back from trying to compensate for the limp.....
Find a hip specialist.....select a hip that lasts 30 years not 10 years as you do not want to go through revision every 10 years..... with the 30 year you will have a couple of restrictions...... NO RUNNING anymore...... walking is good.....
The surgery is so much better then in 1986....... I have many friends that have had to have hip replacements lately and they are ALL doing amazing..... back at work....dancing....walking....swimming..... I must admit that I am jealous of their mobility and quality of life.....
The surgery is scary..... the recovery can be hard for some.....easy for others....but you will regain your "Quality of Life"..... you must do this.......for you.... for me...so you can give us a sparkling update!
Praying for you......Erela
