Hi every one.

I started sertraline 6 weeks ago. First 3 week were

awful. I then began to feel better and hopeful. I am now on week six and for the last week iv felt just as bad as before i started taking them. I think i might be better upping my dose but im scared of the side effects. Plus i work alot and i dont want to struggle at work any more than i already am. I feel so down. I dont want to drag my friends and family

down by talking about it. I dont like talking about it because i feel guilty when my friends worry about me. Plus it doesnt make me feel any better. I hate this awful feeling. Im angry at myself because I carnt shake it off. Sorry for tge long post. I just dont know what to do for the best! Thanks for listening 😊 x

When you got you last pack of Sertraline were they the same brand as the previous ones?

Six weeks isn't very long, it takes 3 months to stabilise your mood before you should increase it.

Have a word with your Doc. Maybe it might be wise to increase your meds for a while. If it lifts you out of the depression it's gotta be worth it. Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon.

I agree after a really bad time in my life I was put on serttraline 50 mg for four weeks and I'm now on the tenth week at 100 mg I have to say the side effects were shocking but getting bearable now! My girls and husband say this is the best I've been for a long long time! Stick with it it does get better and I am actually beginning to live a life again! Good luck! I wish you well!

Hi yes i think they are the same brand as before. I think im going to finish the meds i have left which is about 2 weeks then go back to the doctors. Will i automatically be put on 100mg or can i request to be put on 75mg. Thanks for all your replies. Really helps xxx

My doctor wanted me to ncrease to 100 from 50 but I didnt want to and went to 75mg instead which has been fine for me since just before xmas.  decided instead of increasing to try and excercise more, I have CBT couselling and also go to shiatsu which I dont know if its working but I know I am very relaxed when I am there. I also have aromatherapy massages once a month. Keep going, it will get better x

    Hi Mel,

There's almost nothing worse than feeling like you are back at square 1 (or worse) after experiencing some improvement and progress. However, try not to be too hard on yourself: you haven't chosen to feel the way you do and it's not a result of anything bad you have done. You want to get better and that determination, for the sake of your family and yourself, will see you through! It sounds like you are putting too much pressure on yourself which may be counter-productive (that's not a criticism though as it is a natural reaction - many of us can relate to what you are feeling). If you can, find methods of being kind to yourself, relaxing & building up your self-confidence and self-belief. Rediscover the things that you used to enjoy doing. The meds play a part but they're not the whole story. Your positive attitude will get you to that place you want to be. I know it's tough when we feel like we have no energy for the daily grind. If it feels like too much, then that's the time to pause and be most gentle with yourself.

Sending you a BIG hug & wishing you good luck! Be strong & you will succeed!

    Digsby

You are still that same strong person so it is not a weakness to ask for help. Sometimes we need to let our friends and family give us the love that we need, just as we would give to them if they were in need. You are doing great! Keep going and believe in yourself and you will get your mojo back :-)
