Hi there everyone, hope your all well.

Im new here and for nearly 4 years have suffered with anxiety, compulsive thoughts, and just recently a little depression.

I was put on cilotapram about 6 months ago i lasted 2 days as it ended me in hospital with a mild form of seritonin syndrome WOW that was horrible. So as you can appreciate i was put off for life. Anyway over 2 months ago i couldnt handle it any longer i needed something for my anxiety as it was harming my social anxiety something rotten. I got given 50mg of sertraline over 2 months ago and only bucked up the courage last week as the thought of what happend last time brought on fear and that fear feeling lasted for days at a time.

Anyway enough of me going on to much.

I bit the bullet and took my first tablet at 3pm that day i had a 5second rush about 4 hours after then nothing.

Second day... A burning sensation like a panic attack for 5 seconds felt a little sick and had the runs once.

Third day.... A little sick but not to much to stop me eating.

Forth day....light headed and a little heart burn.

Fifth day..... Nothing whatsoever

Sixth day.... Nothing whatsoever

Tomorrow is day 7 so will see hopefully nothing again.

This is for all you newbies thinking shall i or not as ive heard the bad storys. Trust me guys everyones different, one bit of advice is do not take benzos to help you through if you do get side effects as they are addictive if taken longer than 2 weeks. I take a beta blocker to stop any pysical anxiety symptoms from taking hold. Ask your doctor for propanalol they are amazing and not addictive and easy to come off.

Take care guys and im here if you need to ask any questions

    hi scott8888,

it's good to see that you're keeping a mental diary of your moods, thoughts etc.  i have been doing that since i started taking sertraline, started on 50mg, didn't make any chances so i went up to 100mg and i was worse than on 50mg surprisingly!! 8 months down the line i went up again after a terrible 4-6 weeks of up and down, tears, mood swings, horrible paranoia and thought processes etc, i went upto 150mg and have been on that for past 3 months, 11 months in total and i've settled down loads on this dose, finally found the right one for me and rarely have to make a diary note of any bad days now so there is a light at the end of the tunnel, stick with it buddy and keep in touch, good luck :-)

Hi there glad you found the right dose, its trail snd error with these kind of things. Its only a week gone but i have little 5 minute moments that feel amazing so i can see a better future already.

And yeah sure i dont mind talking about the seritonin syndrome.

At first i just thought they was bad side effects sweating from head to toe, tremors like you have never seen before this was whole body tremors like a seizure, my heart was thumping out my chest and i actually past out about 3 times that final day. It wasnt untill i started hallucinating that i thought this is bad. The wife rang an ambulance and i couldn't remember getting there to the hospital i was looked after for 24 hours in hospital as within that time my reflexes were back to normal ect but i was ill for the next week or so just feeling like i was run down. It wasnt a nice experience and something people should watch out for.

Oh and apparently. While i was taking citilopram i was taking acid reducers and allergy meds so these either interacted or my dose was just to much to start with
