50mg of Sertraline not having an effect

Posted , 3 users are following.

I suffer from anxiety and I have been prescribed 50mg daily sertraline. Initially I just felt spaced out, had bad headaches and had spouts of nausea. This went after 2 weeks and I went back to feeling how I did before. After 4 weeks I would forget to take them for a few days then take the doses I missed all together. Tonight for example I didn't take any for three days so I took 3 x 50mg tablets. Even when I have done this before all I've had is a headache but felt no different. I have another doctor's appointment on Friday, shall I ask her to increase the dosage or just accept the fact they don't seem to work for me?

Hi Sam, my advice would be to take as prescribed. This med is a slow acting one, so you won't get instant relief, to be honest most people have side effects for alittle while. I would continue as prescribed amount for awhile. But please talk to ur doctor about it.

Always take at the same time every day. Don't take more than perscribed.

You are risking getting seratonin syndrome.

This drug can be very slow to work. Be honest with your doctor about your erratic taking of your meds. I personally think you should stay on 50 for a couple of weeks then increase to 75

    Good luck
