52 year old and positive pregnancy test

Posted , 1 user is following.

I am perimenopausal, I missed a period and this morning I took a pregnancy test from a known and expensive brand. The test was positive. I took the test to exclude pregnancy and I do not think I am pregnant (if I were to be pregnant I would be 7 weeks in), but the result came as a shock. I have to work today and won't be able to see a doctor till Monday. I know false positive results can happen. Has any of you experienced something similar or know someone who went through the same? Thank you for your input xx

I thought to give you an update. I used another test today from a different brand. I followed the instructions to the letter just like I did yesterday and this time I got a negative result. Are there hCG fluctuations in healthy perimenopausal women? This has turned into a curiosity. I googled it and apparently yes, it can happen to some women. I wonder if it correlates with the cravings that some of us get or with the nausea that some ladies get during the perimenopause. I have both on and off. Who knows what is really going on.
