hi there, new to the group. I'm a 55 year old woman, started going through the menopause at 38 years old, well that was the first time I went to see a Dr about not feeling right, I got dismissed. Things got worse, my behaviour became more erratic, didn't know what was wrong with me. went to see another Dr at 40 year old, spoke to her, she immediately tested my hormones & told me I was in full blown menopause, she started me on HRT straight away, she saved my life. continued with my HRT, Eleste Duet Conti for approx 8-10 years with no problem until I thought I should be over it, Dr never tested me to see where I am, tried a few month without the HRT and it was quite obvious to folk around me that I wasn't over it. went back to Dr but was told the HRT I used before is no longer available. Been suffering greatly ever since, my bones ache so much I can cry, I don't sleep, hot flushes to the extreme, fatigue all the time, weight gain & most importantly no sex drive. I was put on patches for a short time, with no difference, I've now been advised to take a low dose anti depressant, I also have high blood pressure. Can anyone please, please help me, as I feel my life is falling apart, constantly miserable and fed up, was once happy, thanks xx

i started with horrible hormone issues at 38 years old as well. Drs said there was no way it was perimenopause. Well after 5 years of hot flashes, messed up periods, severe anxiety & depression, terrible nausea that never lets up, vertigo and now add fainting spells i can honestly say at 43 years old i am in perimenopause and its awful. Ive tried the hormones & antidepressants in which made things way worse. i have no advice for you but i can relate , its pure hell and makes life miserable!

yep classic example if you take hormones for years and as soon as you get off them you'll have to go thru the menopause anyways! no ways around it only thru it! so sorry for ya hope it eases for you and your struggle isnt long lasted!

Hi Susan
Not sure where you live and what alternative or holistic drs you have available to you.
I started bio identical hormone treatment at 55. First with creams and now on pellets consisting of estrodial and testosterone. I also take progesterone in pill form because I still have my uterus. It changed my life when I started menopause. The sleepless nights, hot and cold constantly, feeling depressed, lack of lubrication and the beginnings of soreness downstairs during sex. The bio identical hormones I am on I will stay on for life. No reason to come off of them if your feeling good. Of course symptoms will return if I get off of them but I feel this is what keeps me healthy and happy. My husband is also on testosterone pellets and intimacy is very much a part of our life. I am 61 and my husband is 68. I feel keeping your sex life alive in turn keeps us healthier too. Hope this helps.
