5mm embedded kidney stone

Can an embedded kidney stone completely surrounded by tissue move?

I had a urologist try to remove a 5mm stone through Ureteroscopy. He couldn't get it since it wasn't in the collection system, it was in the kidney tissue. That was 9yrs ago and I just had a abdominal ultrasound for other reasons and the stone showed up again in the report. Same size, unobstructed.

This must be such a rare case, I can't find any info about stones embedded in the kidney tissue. Can they move at all?
