5th week on 30mg paroxetine

Hi, I was on 20mg paroxetine for a year and a half, had no side effects at all. Felt like it was the right time to come off them but had a bad breakdown after the doctors advice to cut the pills in half. Anyway, I am almost on my 5th week of a higher dose of 30mg, having awful side effects this time around. Please tell me these will go soon?

Hi there, had the same happen to me. I was on paroxetine for 5 years and started reducing the dose to half and then one quarter... but the side effects where and are still horrible. I had a bad break down and am suffering from anxiety and panick attacks. I was also getting an upset stomach. I am now on 10mg but will be seeing a doctor today to see what would be the best option for me as I cannot take these withdrawal effects. Why did you have to increase your dose to 30mg and not 20mg again ?

Hi, Sorry to hear you are suffering too. How are you doing now?

I did go on 20mg, and then was upped to 30mg but after 11 weeks I was not seeing benefits so I am nowcon my second week on 40mg.

I've read that paroxetine doesn't work as well the second time around but is this really true?! There are so many different versions of what this pill does, I'm not sure what to believe really x

Hey there, I am much better now.. im on week 8 now ! I dont get upset stomach anymore and my mood is mainly fine.. however I still have some panicky and anxiety feelings which I try and control.. i am still on 20mg and I do not wish to up the dose ! What symtoms are you still feeling ? I feel scared to ever try and reduce the dose again and stop taking seroxat to be honest.. the worst anxiety I have is this constant worry that I am not able to breath properly.. chest tightness etc.. what are your symtoms at the moment ? Give it some more time.. even maybe another 2-3 weeks as you might see an improvement then ! are you on 20mg ?

sorry to hear that you did not see any improvements ? are you still having bad full blown panick attacks ? how about your mood ?

it is a tough situation to be in and I completely understand ! I hope you will start seeing some benefits soon, or maybe you can consider switching to another medication ? or have you already tried this before. I am doing terapy sessions at the moment too, to help me with my anxiety. Seorxat did save my life I would say, but I feel I am hooked on this medication forever now cause I never want to pass through the withdrawal symtoms again and I really feel that doctors dont really know how bad it is !

Thanks for your reply. At the moment I'm still on 30mg. My symptoms are anxiousness from when I wake up, I also have the same worry about my breathing. Nauseous a lot. Nervousness and numbness in my arms. Honestly if this medicine works wonders like it did before I wont mind taking it forever but it just worry me it won't be the same This time. That's great you feel better hopefully the rest of your symptoms will also subside how were you during week 6 ? Anxiety wise

yes I understand.. it was the same for me. I got anxious from the moment I woke up and its a horrible feeling. i had to push myself to get dressed and go to work and face people and everything.. same for the nauseousness.. very strong but that has completely gone away now !! I saw a massive difference since 2 weeks ago so when I was on week 6 of restarting seroxat so just give it more time and hopefully you will get better too. It effects everyone differently I guess and even I have that fear that it will not completely remove my anxiety like it did the first time round but I am also in terapy and that is helping.. the trick to beat anxiety is to spend time with anxiety and accept it, expose yourself to the thoughts and sensations and allow them to subside over time. The more you try to push anxiety away, the more it will stay. I know its easier said then done because I am still learning to cope with it myself but it will get better, you need to stay strong ! Keep me updated on your progress !
