6 and 1/2 weeks on Citalopram. Desperate for reassurance!

Hi there.

I am currently 6 and 1/2 weeks into taking Citalopram and must say I have seen some improvement so feel like it is starting to work and having read countless threads on here about people's experiences I totally appreciate it's still early days......I am just struggling with bad days at the moment. I seem to have 3/4 good days if I am lucky followed by a few bad days where the anxiety in morning is horrid, I feel mega drowsy and fatigued all day until evening when I get some respite. i also do luckily sometimes get short periods in the day where I feel better and more rational (hence why I feel the meds are doing something) but on a really bad day not so much so I then start to doubt benefits. Also on beta-blockers to help with anxiety symptoms but sometimes they are still too much esp when looking after baby. Just makes me resent her 😔

I am taking the meds for bad anxiety and PND. my baby girl is almost 4 months old and on my bad days it's a major struggle! mornings see by far the worst.

I just want to get better for her. My husband is a great support but I can tell he is getting frustrated with it all especially on the days I can barely function. He has lost his wife just now.

Thanks, Sulma

Hello Sulma, feel so bad for you that's very hard with a baby . it seems alot of us have horrible mornings and at night gets a bit better I'm at 9 weeks and still struggling they say it takes longer with the bad anxiety but will level out slowly after 12 weeks. for some . So I'm waiting ..... so glad your husband is good as you need rest and tlc. it's enough having a baby for your hormones to get back , that might be why and the meds. will help with that and you will feel better down the road , take as much help as you can right now you need it till everything balances out for you and baby, Don't worry about cleaning right now just you and baby. Remember how brave you are being you will be so strong when this is over , hang in there kiddo you will feel better.😊❤

Thank you ❤ have you noticed any improvement? GPs are so quick to suggest upping dosage but I do not want to do that. it's too early and I couldn't deal with side effects again. i have had some days were I've felt alot better and sometimes windows in the day. Also the anxiety sometimes comes in waves then goes for a short while so I am taking that as a positive in that the meds must be starting to do something. But my god the bad days totally throw a spanner in the works and make you doubt it all! Fingers crossed that things start improving soon. Always here to talk....I'm a talker! Find it helps especially when you find someone going through a similar experience xx
