6 hrs post op and feeling fine!

Well when I say fine..... No pain, scar area looks small but I am soooooo hot, very itchy and starving! Soup and sandwich never materialised, I was probably asleep. If it wasn't for this constant itch I would be very comfortable. Oh well, tomorrow, or rather today is another day.

good morning karen .... welcome back .... I hope they give you something to eat by now - and do tell them about your itch ... as said, you might be allergic to something - and have someone bring in that battery operated fan and some snacks !!! I found the time between meals a wee bit long - coffee and tea ladies would come but didn't have snacks - just saying ..

you probably will be kept busy today - Physical Therapist will make you get out of bed and walk around a bit -

it is going to be a great day, you'll see !

    big hug

WOW, it's so good to hear from someone straight after the operation. Great to hear you are feeling fine but expect ups and downs over the coming weeks; then at least you are prepared for any minor changes in how you feel !

I know I will need the operation in the future, but not in any pain yet, just limited movement around the left hip. So to hear from others that have "gone before" is really educational for me. Keep letting us know how you are. Best Wishes, Mark

Good that you have no pain. I'm sure you will have eaten by now - they made toasst to order on my ward it was about the only thing I could eat at first!

Thanks all! Well bran flakes never tasted so good. Children came in before school which was lovely. Sat out on chair now and shall be doing some walking soon. Having a coffee, yes snacks would be good, could just do with a biscuit. Looking forward to lunch. Salmon and salad lovely. Gorgeous sunny day and just had tramadol so feeling much more positive lol.

I felt pretty good the first day, but felt a bit down on the second, bit tearful and sorry for myself. I put it down to the affects of the anaesthetic and the fact that I could not get comfy.

Didnt last long though!!  I'm 12 days post op and am jolly glad I had it done. At least I know that the pain I have now is going to get better whereas before it was only getting worse.

dont forget if you feel down we are here to cheer you on. I for one am very grateful for this site

      enjoy your salmon salad

Thanks Carol. You're right this site is great. It helps to know I might get some down days but hopefully short lived. I need to get better. Off camping in Cornwall last two weeks of August. Two weeks of kids and hubby surfing, and two weeks of me actually relaxing on holiday for a change ;-).

Are you in the UK? It's so hot today and due to be hotter tomorrow. I hope you have someone who is running errands (bringing snacks and fans). These are the conditions where you are meant to be looked after ! smile

Just read your last entry as I was writing mine. I love Cornwall and when the weather is good, no-where can beat it. Last year I had my wife and two young teenagers surfing for hours while I walked up and down the beach with two black labradors that loved the water but could not understand where the waves were coming from... They were in the sea until sunset and I have a fantastic photo of them finally leaving the sea as the sun went down. Just keep on thinking of your holiday and it'll encourage you to do all the exercises smile

Cheers Mark. I'm really looking forward to it. Went camping in Cornwall a few yrs ago and it peed down most of hol. Ever optimistic and hoping for better weather this year.

I will be doing all my exercises. Although suspect my love of exercise put me here lol.

What part of Cornwall are you, we lived at padstow for nearly 5 years when hubby was stationed at st mawgan I thoroughly enjoyed my time there we went back 6 years ago couldn't believe how much it had changed. I am now 7 weeks post op and virtually no pain still wake at 2 - 3 am for about an hour I normally have a read then go off again for a further 4 hours and I also just take paracetamol just before going to bed. Over did it a bit yesterday with walking so today feel tired xx

Hi. We're off to a campsite near Newquay I think, left hubby to organise hol this year, which may turn out to be a mistake lol. He's not very organised! I'm hoping I can sleep as well as you. Heard done right horror stories about not sleeping. I usually sleep foetal position on now operated side so I'll have to see how sleeping on back works out. I live my sleep and suspect apart from loo trips I'll be out like a light. Fingers crossed anyway.
