Originally prescribed 20 mg Citalopram 6 months ago. started at 10mg and felt ok, just not great. Am going to increase to 15 mg from tomorrow and 20mg next week. Was wondering how long side effects will last as they were not fun to begin with. Hope this starts working soon as I am feeling in a bit of a funk. I am a real ninny when it comes to meds, so please give me the good news wink

    Hi Lee

i had every side effect imaginable when i first started citalopram and thought i would get them all again with the increase. This was not the case at all. Upon increasing I got a little bit dizzy and retched a bit.The intensity was nothing like the side effects you get when first starting.

You may not get any at all as you are increasing slowly. I went from 10 to 20 whereas you are doing it nicely eg 10 15 20

Please let me know how you get on xxx

    god bless

      Hi Lee

I'm on 15mg mirtazapine and it's now 4 days and I'm feeling so much better. I still take 10mg citalopram too which I will stop next week.

I felt immediate effects after day one! But now day 4 so much better! How are you doing? X

I would say i am hovering at around a 5 at the moment. 10mg was not enough to maintain a happy me. so am going to give the 20 a shot and hope things start looking up soon. Only on day 9 so I will keep going and hope that change comes soon. I tried Mirt for three months last year and boy it knocked me for a six. The sleep was heavenly, but I just couldn't wake up during the day. So pleased you have found something that is working for you. Take care and stay well. Lee

      Thank you Lee

citalopram works wonders for loads of people. Each time you increase you are having to start again in a way to enable your system / brain to balance the new dose. Averaging approx six to eight weeks to get the full effect.

i found when increasing on cit i would feel some benefit around the two week mark.

      Please keep me posted

      wishing you well Lee xxx
