Sounds great...what tattoo do you plan to get? Mic x

Well, I've over 40 tats, I've got three planned, an extension on one I've already got which are hibiscus flowers, a Hamsa (eye tat in a hand) protection is the meaning, and one for my hip, artificial joint in Latin and the date of my op in Roman numerals.

X-rays look good. Just came back from my 6 week appointment myself and all you have said I was told also. Really great we are oceans apart and have the same x-rays and same instructions. Really amazing isn't it? I need a lot of work on my walk though as it has been years since I walked correctly. So glad you wrote as it is encouragement for many still in the first few weeks that feel as if this could go on forever.

    Hi Linzi

I am impressed! I am 5 weeks and am back at the hospital on 17th; I am hoping to get the result you got today. There are so many bits of different advice from different consultants that I am praying mine will be like yours!

    Nice pix BTW biggrin

Oh and I forgot to mention, airports! Yes I could set the detectors off, they don't issue cards now as airport security goes up and down with any  terrorist threat! So I need to inform them I have a hip implant and they may or may not search me,

airports can adjust the sensitivity of the detectors...

    Whoop whoop Linzi 😁

Cool tattoo ideas, am thinking of getting them done as well, with the addition of 'No. 1' and 'No. 2'

Not sure yet about the numerals or dates, but something will go there 😉

Had a tattoo done in Bali as well, day before we left. Had been itching to get another one done for years, this was the time for it!

Can't help but notice the piercing in the 'before' pic though, didn't they harass you to get rid of it? They did me..

I had to put a plastic retainer in my belly button piercing, I bet that was an experience to get tattooed in Bali! X

Ah good one, that is of coure a good option.

Getting a tattoo in Bali indeed is somewhat of an experience smile

I was lucky though, we had met a guy living there and covered in tattoos and when he heard I wanted to get a tattoo done, he actually went out of his way to make time at the place he always went to.

He wanted to make sure that if I were to go and get this done, it would be in a place where they worked sterile.

And they did, it was almost the exact same as over here in Holland. Apart from one thing though, the price. That's about half of what you'd pay over here.

After all, I had to have something to do while the ladies were doing stuff I can't do at the moment? ;-)

      Hug,

      Arjan

      Hi Renee,

      Not at all biggrin

As long as images/pics are not offensive/advertising etc you can post what you like.

Show and tell will be a little tricky with the 3 pre-existing ones, as I'm at work and can't very well sit here taking my shirt off taking selfies! :p

      But, I can describe those:

Left upper-arm: Crying closed eyes, soon to be covered up in a halfsleeve containing the image of the fish I included (or close to those anyway, still making that design work completely..)

Right uppar-arm: Wolf howling at a full moon, bit artsy depiction, but by now getting old (and will be covered up at some point as well).

Right shoulder: Face of a female (warrior) elf. Reminder to never let go of your imagination and stay young at least in your mind. smile

New addition to the group is the dragonfly sitting on the leftside of my chest, attached as well!

      smile

I'm very happy with it alright hahaha smile

Like your dreamcatcher a lot by the way!

Found how I want to commemmorate this year's scarring as well btw..

      Right hip will get: E5ACEF

      Left hip will get: 19D3D1F

It's massiely nerdy/geeky, but they are the dates in Hexadecimal :p

Binary would be a bit longer than the actual scars themselves smile

All I need to sort now is the font I want them in as well as size

It should be "iunctura artificialis"  - In Latin the adjective typically comes after the noun.... and iunctura not iuncturam (which is the wrong 'case').  Artificialis kind of means 'belonging to art' but the other word you might use, 'factitia', means more 'made up', so you're probably best sticking with the first idea.  (I did Classics at university.... & just didn't want to see you with the wrong thing on you like you sometimes hear about people doing!)

I wish I could be so knowlagable. Did you go to public school? Xxx

      Dear Neil,

I did Classics at uni as well... and the right translation is :"Facticia coxendix". Coxendix=hip bone  facticia= made by a human being, not by nature. "Facticia" is the correct spelling, not "factitia".

Instead of "facticia" you could say "manu facta"= hand made!

Sorry about the correction, but I hate to see mistakes in Latin or Ancient Greek.

      All the best

      Ella

      Ok Ella

      Happy to be helped wink

Although Linzi had said 'joint'  - yep hip/coxindex is more specific

Factitia, facticia - these are just alternative forms.  the one with the T is likely to be mediaeval.

A shame I sold my Lewis & Short many years ago.... !

      Thanks
