6 week post op, talus break expectations?

May 11, I shattered my Talus. I got surgery, needing 2 plates and 8 screws to put it back together. I have been on crutches, with a boot, non weight bearing since then. I have my 6 week post op appointment next week. I was wondering, for those who have experienced a talus break, what should I expect. I am possibly *overly* hopeful that I will be off the crutches in 3 weeks. But I don't want to get my hopes too high. I know its a long road to recovery, but I would say things look pretty good.

I broke my talus in multiple places too. They're notoriously difficult to heal due largely to the lack of decent blood supply. If the fracture also damaged the blood supply then the bone will degrade too and you'll end up with an arthritic joint at best. Take my advice - once your life is filled with pain from this injury, don't hesitate to get a tibiotalar arthrodesis. Life with pain is much less than a life with a slight disability.
