My first hip was 5 years ago. My second 2-1/2 years ago.

I can only say ... slow down. I had therapy 2 days a week for 12 weeks. In between I walked. I didn't start the gym until I was finished with therapy. Everyone is different so listen to what your body is saying. Your body needs time to heal. Be kind to yourself now and your body will thank you later. If an x-ray will put you at ease go for it.

    Good luck.

Almost certainly the physio and the gym together meant you overdid it. Probably it will be much better in a couple of days.

    Good luck!

Hi. I had my first physio yesterday nine weeks after surgery. Although I have been doing a little stretching and leg lifts on my own over the last month to keep my leg muscles flexible. After my exercises yesterday their would have been no way I would have gone to a gym. Its easy to feel the need to rush but really its a lot safer to take it a bit slower and work your way up. Your body will thank you for it. Their were a few things I had difficulty with, such as standing on my toes without hanging on. I did have to touch the wall a few times for support. I was given a list of things to work on at home until my next session. Just havent read them yet. I didnt have a hip replacement, but I broke my femur bone up near the neck of it,and have had three screws put in. Apparently fractures take longer to heal than a hip replacement. Had xrays two weeks ago and it looks like it is healing well.
