6 weeks on Tablets and so far...........

Well i have been on these tablets 6 weeks and I have had 1 accident with the o/oil urgh!!

I got weighed yesterday at the IVF clinic and I have lost 4kg in 6 weeks which is just under 9lb. My consultant is happy with the loss so far but I still need to lose around 3 stone to start my IVF treatment. I am getting lots of support from the hospital and I am now focused. I am trying so hard to be good but last week i had 3 nights out and i was naughty when it came to food!!

I had to stop the tablets though as it completley stopped my period, I was freaking out and i had 2 negative pregnancy tests, I didnt know that one of the sides effects was to stop the menstural cycle altogether, this caused me alot of pain so I had to stop the orlistat until i came on my period. I am back on them and my next weigh in is on april 8th. I just want to get this weight off and be egilable for my ivf!

Hi Hun. It depends on your nhs trust. Some places won't fund Ivf on the nhs if your bmi is over 30. The hospital I go to is allowing me treatment if I get my bmi to 35. I'm currently 38 on the chart. I'll be 33 next Wednesday I want to start treatment asap!! Hope this helps xx

Oh my god, I am not surprised you were freaking out. You must have thought what the hell is going on. I'm sorry you had to go through that pain and negative pregnancy tests, that is very sad. But on a positive note, well done for the 9lbs, that is brilliant. Keep going, it seems as long way off but 3 stone is not too bad (could be much worse) and the end result will be IVF so keep that in mind every time you look at food - IVF IVF IVF.....I'm routing for you. I didn't know orlistat stopped your periods either, found that out on this forum. I think I'm going through the menopaus now anyway so I have no idea whether it's that or these tablets - god we women have so much crap to deal with.

I found my first period on the tablets was a lot longer than normal and it was a weird period! I didn't know it could either, my friend was interested in the ingredients (she's a vet nurse) so I gave her the leaflet and she read it to me while I was driving ha xx
