6 weeks post op check

Hi there
Had my 6 weeks post op check 2day and spoke to specialist about my leaky bladder that I didn't have pre-surgery. He said in some cases when u have an anterior repair it places ur bladder in a different position and sometimes the sphincter muscles r 2 week to stop urine from leaking. He's confident that pelvic floor exercises will help.. If my it's back for a sling. I had to drive over 2 hours each way to the appointment and was trying so hard not 2 cry on the way home. I still have stitches that haven't dissolved and a lot of swelling. He said I wasn't ready for intercourse for another 2 weeks. I told him I can't imagine being intimate with my husband if I'm going 2 per all over him. My sister keeps saying stop crying it could be worse. Just feel like an 80yo woman right now 😢😢😢

Everyone is different but what helped for me was cutting out fizzy drinks (tho I only had one a day) and caffeine too.
Only given this advice a week ago and not leaked at all after leaking virtually every day.
I’m not saying it’s that simple for you, or even that it’s a full proof method for me but it’s worth trying as it may help, alongside the pelvic floor exercises.

Hi
I think I'm willing 2 try anything. Constantly wetting myself is making me so miserable.

Sorry to hear you are upset x
Hopefully with these exercises you will stop leaking x
I went back for another check up last week which was 10 weeks as still had stitches at 6 weeks. They are still there, they are not nice for my husband but he can cope with a couple of cuts 😵
Please don’t be upset , I’m sure your husband will be fully understanding x it is horrible feeling not yourself , but I’d say it’s another few weeks before you will feel even a bit better in yourself x
Please don’t feel bad about yourself , it is major surgery xxx

Hi Kym,
Try not to worry too much. I had exactly the same after my AR & hysterectomy in 2013. I had no leaks before the op but started leaking afterwards, I was so upset & went back for various tests etc. In the end it just settled down again. I don’t think you are ever quite the same & I was told if you have quite a bad bladder prolapse it can leave a kink in your urethra. Urine can collect in this kink then leak out later! After having a wee try rocking or get up, walk about & try again (apparently ‘double voiding’ is a thing!) I had another prolapse & more surgery before Xmas so I was ready for it this time.
Keep up with the exercises & don’t worry things will improve, maybe not 100% but you will feel better. X

Seems to rub somehow. I walk everyday and yesterday walked 6k and was very sore afterwards. I’m hopeful that it will resolve eventually. I’ve started using Estrace since many ladies say this helped. Have had same soreness for 7 months since my posterior repair.
Hope we all get there in the end.

Just back from physio. My pelvic floor muscles are really weak. She's confident I can strengthen them and hopefully my piddling with stop. Wish I had a timeline tho. We r off on holidays in a months time. Would be nice to at least be halfway normal on holidays.
