6 weeks post op tomorrow

I thought I was going to breeze thru this...omg was I wrong.  No walker or cane 3 rd day after surgery, home on 4th and walking great.  Started rehab second week and I am at 109 bend and -1 straight.  Cannot take narcotics I get violently ill, so depending on Tylenol, which does not help now.  Feels like my kneecap wants to blow out of knee! And sleeping at night is non exsistant.  GP finally gave me Ambian, take 1/2a pill, I sleep but hubby says I am restless and talking in sleep.   I see surgeon on Thursday, hoping for good report, but the PT says I am overdoing. I guess I am damned if I do and damned if I don’t.  Sorry to rant but my husband is sick of listening to me b***h about it, glad I found this spot.

Everyone here gives great advice and no matter what anyone says this surgery is extremely painful and the recovery process is a long and bumpy road with lots of hills and valleys. One thing I have learned and this based on numerous revisions in my case 6 the last one was done last Monday we all heal at different rates I have also found out the hard way the more surgeries you have the longer its going to take and the more painful its going to be. GREAT. Unlike normal exercising you can only push your knee but so hard you need to be mindful of how your knee feels if its starting to  hurt stop if you continue to push it your knee will not like you very much. It stinks you cannot take Pain meds but really there really is no such thing as the perfect med either for pain. What helps me when your knee is sore swollen etc the best thing you can do is ice and elevate no Dr.'s note needed and you can do this as many times as you want all day long. Yes this # 6 for me yes it hurts like a SOB but one day it will get better it just takes time. By the way 109 for your ROM!! Like I wrote just over one week PO and I am at 90 but I have also had a total of 18 surgeries 6 of which were replacements all on the same knee. Your doing fine.

Just went to surgeon, everything is awesome, except for the edema right around the knee. I am progressing way ahead of schedule and he says to keep up the good work.  All the pain and odd shooting things are normal.  Come back in a month and we should see a big difference.....holding out hope!  I do not need any assistance tools just compression stockings and elevation for the swelling. Therapy for  another week  with massage and ultrasound and I am good to continue life. ( doc knows I am not to happy, wish I would of done this in winter!)
