7.5 mg, muscle soreness, burning, a mess

I deal with chronic pain due to various spinal issues. A few months ago I was started on buspirone, twice a day, total of 15 mg. I spiraled more into panic, frankly downright fear, and had no appetite. 7.5 mg of Remeron was added at that point.
What started to happen is soreness, muscle cramps, pins and Needles, burning.
I also recently found out I have a condition called SSCD. That however doesn’t cause this. Did a bit of research and I see that these are not very uncommon symptoms for people on this medication.
it became so bad and so frightening that I had an EMG test because my muscles felt so weak and sore there was a fear I had a particular muscle disease. Thankfully, the neuromuscular specialist who conducted the test said there was no evidence of that.
so, now I am thinking it is this medication. I was on the BuSpar for well over a month before I started this medication, so I don’t think it is that.
I want to get off of this medication, but I am terribly afraid. I feel damned if I do and damned if I don’t. Because of the symptoms I am actually going for a brain MRI!
another interesting article I found said that people taking Allegra, which I do, and Remeron have reported fibromyalgia type symptoms. Which makes me hopeful that some of these things are coming from this medication.
I want off of this medication to see if some of my pain improves. But I am terribly afraid. I haven’t been taking it for very long, but from everything I’ve read it doesn’t take long for people to experience issues.
do I start cutting it in half for a couple of weeks, there is so much conflicting information.
thank you in advance for any feedback or information, I appreciate it.

i've only been taking mirt for a short time but I've read others have used a small-weight digital scale to taper very slowly. If I were you I'd shave each pill/dose to taper so slowly you hardly notice. I'm no dr however.
Also, as far as muscle pain is concerned, I had similar mystery muscle pains--more so spasms--as soon as I moved from 2 pills (30mg) to 2 and a half (37.5mg,) so I reversed course and am sticking to 30mg. Thankfully I did this before I developed a dependency. (Similar problems with Sertraline.) Is wise not to wait for your body to accept the med in hopes the pain goes away, I reckon.
But what I discovered really helped me is that I also had rib cage pain that I thought was also from the psych meds, but it seems I have/had an electrolyte deficiency. Started taking a supplement and almost immediately all rib cage pain vanished. Might be age related, I guess. I'm 52/M. I suffered a long time from that.
Just some thoughts, hopefully they help. Best of luck to you.

thank you very much for this, Adrian.
I am the same age as you, and yes, it’s hard to tell if it’s medication, something else, simply getting older!
Can I ask what supplement you were taking and how you found out about the electrolyte imbalance?

Yes! I am still just learning when it come to this ageing thing! There seems to no end to the variety of (likely) ageing-related anomalies! Combined with my just-learning status with the seeming increased pace of ageing, it's quite challenging! And I guess it's only going to get worse before it gets better! s/
Neither my dr nor I had any clue what was causing my ribcage pain. In my several years of sporadic research attempts for rib pain yielded zero relevant results, until about a month ago when I rephrased my pain it as 'rib-cage' pain, then strangely I quickly found a couple of mentions of electrolyte deficiencies. This really leapt out at me, partly because the pain clearly spiked after physical exertion (working in a busy commercial kitchen--was often excruciating later that night.) It also leapt out at me because I knew there were supplements--a potentially easy fix. I ordered a supplement (pretty randomly but with good reviews) from Amazon: "Ancient Keto Electrolytes Supplement."
I have no reason to get the Keto, but the first stuff was a game changer for me, so I'm hopeful it'll be just as good. This is also why I'm trying to share this with others who might have similar rib-cage pain!
I always hydrated with a lot of water, but it didn't cut it, I guess.
The best part is that it was such a simple fix, and relatively cheap!
I told my dr of my discovery last week and asked him if he had thoughts why I had been so lacking in electrolytes, and he didn't really have any ideas. But in one of the Amazon comments of this supplement, a person who said he was 70, and relied on electrolyte supplements for energy.
I think electrolyte supplements are pretty benign in general, so maybe if you're comfortable with trying it, it might serve you well. If it only reduces some of your pain, it could be worth it. Maybe ask your dr. (Doubtful it will help your pins and needles, burning pains tho.) Good luck to you though!
