7 days and feeling more motivated than ever...

I finally decided enough is enough.
Hi, I'm a 43 year old female and I've been a morning to night alcoholic for around 10 years. Before that always drinking to get drunk.
I could never see the point of drinking otherwise.
I've wrecked everything in my life from drinking. My health, my relationships, my job and integrity.
I've been to Inpatient detox many times, residential rehabs, counselling etc etc....
This time I decided to just go for it and quit on my own. I would never recommend that to anyone of course...see your doctor first. But waiting a month to get into detox seemed like an eternity.
I was a bit worried as I've had seizures in the past, both withdrawal and alcohol induced....so I've stayed home this week.
I feel really good, much better than I thought I would at this point..It's such a relief to feel good about something instead of perpetual shame.
I'm going to keep pressing on, get out this week and get some exercise. The weather is beautiful.
I'm curious about Campral...I've been reading your posts all week and that sounds like an option that would help me...
Take care everyone! Laura..

I feel sure RHGB will be along to give you his experiences of Campral pretty soon.
In the meantime, I am going to PM you a link to the Canada Health Website (seems a little similar to this website) and it includes lots of information about Campral, how it works, who it's not suitable for etc.

I got the link to the Canada Health Website regarding Campral...it sounds what I am looking for. I'm taking anti-depressants which seem to be helping alot so far....I just want all my bases covered so I don't set myself up to fail...
Thank you! Laura...

I would only recommend naltrexone/nalmephene or campral. I'm not sure if you've read my posts in the past re baclofen and sorry to others for repeating this again. 5 years ago I trade baclofen and got up to the very high dosage that you have to. I took it for several months. I read the book that is recommended too, still got it, won't meantion the name or this will be moderated. Side effects were extreme tiredness( more than usual), spaced out( more than usual), weight gain( I don't normally have a problem with my weight but put on nearly a stone)!

This is just a warning, if you are likely to go on a binge while taking this drug(like I did) then this is not for you. But it has helped others who obviously did not go to my extremes.
Please look into taking naltrexone ( it's the only thing that's working for me and I've tried everything over the years!). Or campral that also works really well if you want total abstinence). Google baclofen overdose as that is what happened to me.
Wishing you peace and happiness xx

When I started using yet another brand I had a severe reaction.Violently throwing up and feeling very out of it.
Looking back I realise it turned me into a different person,my husband was very worried about me,I had every SE that is associated with baclofen and some that arnt recorded

If it doesn't work for you, try something else, but whilst you are trying it, you can carry on life as normal, without it affecting anything.
