7 months later and I am still in pain

well here it is 7 months since my TKR and I still wish I had not had this done. My knee is still very swollen, can’t straighten or bend completely. Still in a lot of pain, hard to walk. Now starting to hear a crunching noise in knee and if you put your hand on my knee you csn feel it. I am very grouchy and depressed by all of this going on. Dr says everything is fine but I know my body everything is not fine, something is wrong.

I know we're you are coming from. I had a total right knee replacement surgery on August 28, 2017. Had a revision surgery on December 1, 2017 To replace the spacers. And on May 4, 2018 I had a right knee total revision replacement surgery still swollen and still in a lot of pain and a lot of poping I never walked with a crutch before now I can't walk without one. I very sorry I ever had mine done. I had my left knee replacement done May 11, 2017 and that one is starting to have pain now.

Hi Verna
I had a partial knee replacement June 2017 and it is still painful if I walk more than about half an hour. I had the other knee done in March this year and that is still a little bit swollen. In both cases I have excellent ROM I don't know the numbers but would guess both are at 135+ and very straight. However the newer knee is very painful when walking. I have no pain whilst sitting but weight baring is awful. I need to use a walking stick to take some of the weight and also take paracetamol for the pain.
I believe we are the slow healers. I never thought it would take over a year for the first one to feel normal, having been told it would get better in three to six months. After new x-rays on both knees last week apparently they are in the right place and can take up to 2 years to be pain free!!!! Not what I was told originally so my expectations have not been met. I do physio at home most days, see a personal trainer at the gym twice a week and walk whenever I can. Although I am not happy I cannot say I wish I hadn't had it done as being bone on bone I was unable to walk before. I just wish I was one of the lucky ones with a better outcome.
Bottom line is we cannot dictate the recovery, I have certainly tried! So, I would just continue with whatever exercise you can and time should help.
My fingers are crossed this mantra will apply to me too.

I can relate to what you're saying I'm going on for months same exact thing you're going through I'm tired of the doctors saying everything is okay it's not okay but they try to just pass the buck. They don't realize that what we're going through as far worse than what we went through before the surgery and they don't care they got their money so to hell with you

Michelle, if I could I would hug your neck. That's exactly what I say. The ortho docs have your $55,000, don't want to talk to you again. they pass the buck to the PT's, and they want to give you excruciating painful exercises to do, or bend your leg back , so that it feels like they are breaking your leg.... I rue the day I had this damn surgery. I'd rather limp, like I was doing. At least I could sleep at night.
