You can have a test at 4 weeks if it's negative it's 97 percent accurate then they advise to be retested at 3 months I no this because I've just had one done and the nurse told me if this 1 is negative then it's unlikely the 1 at 3 months will be positive hope this helps.

That's for the info but im still scared i keep on reading different testing time frames some say 4 weeks some say 8 weeks and some say 3 months i know the 4th gen test that i took should be able to detect it if i had it by now but im having all these symtoms associated with ars symptoms and hiv in general i just cant seem to calm myself down

Do not Google anything if u r still worried ask the doctor or the nurse the worse thing u can do is Google it will put all sorts of ideas in your head and u will drive your self insain beleive me i no I've done it my self. The earliest it can be detected is 4 weeks I was told this by a nurse the 4 week test is 97 percent accurate they only advise another at 3 months so it defo would of come back by now if you had anything wrong. And if it makes you feel any better the symptoms could be associated with anything as most of them are the same as other stuff if you are worried I would go and talk to a doctor.

I know but i dont have the best doc infact im changing docs for that reason they gave me the usual answers and told me to get tested at 6 months and wot let me test until then and all they do is give me antibiotics and other things so im getting tested with a specialist next i have an app on the 28th but this waiting is killing me and i know Google isnt much help and will make anylittlw thing feel like a serious illness but ita hard when i cant get amswers anywhere else sad that being said i really appreciate you taking the time to write back to me it helps to hear someone that was in the same situation as me and can relate . Have you by any chance heard or seen a neg test turn pos after 7 week neg regardless if it was a 3rd gen or 4th?

doesn't matter about the Dr....he is not working in the lab and producing the test results...the LAB does that and they have standardized testing...meaning the test is done one way...all over the world.....

genital herpes?   think you can relax....tests now a days are high  tech....they want to discover illness quickly and increase life spans.

High risk would be having anal.....even if you did have sex with an individual that has HIV...very unlikely for you to get it....and again...the tests are high tech.

The 3 month check must just be....the final seal on the NEGATIVE.

@AchyFace- Sorry should qualify..depends on viral load of HIV individual, protection used, ejaculation, presence of other STI's etc - so not a straight forward statistic. but also not exactly low. unprotected anal receptive sex is the highest risk sexual behaviour
