Had surgery 7 weeks ago on broken ankle.

Had 6 screws and a plate put in.

Was none Weight bearing but a week ago was told to wb and now learn to walk again.

At home will walk without the boot but not able to put full weight on my foot.

I was also given exercises to do daily to get movement back into my foot.

The problem is the PAIN

I am now in constant pain again

Is this normal ?

Thanks in advance

Hi britta, great news about getting your feet back on the ground. I'm just over a week now with FWB. The first 5/6 days were hurendus with pain and swelling, reducing me to tears most days and back on the ZAPAIN. But now it seems that I can do more and more each day. Still using crutches and still have pain n swelling but no where near as bad. I got behind the wheel of my car for the first time in 14 weeks last night, and it felt great. Quite painful around my ankle but did it. So little by little getting to do things. I'm sure it will get easier for you, although you may feel that it won't and you have gone backwards, hang in there.... Do exercises if you've been given any. You can go into YouTube for some if you haven't started physio yet, they do help. Good luck. Sx

      Thankyou Sandra

Great news about you being able to drive again

I am looking forward to that day

I only have paracetamol as not going back on morphine And paracetamol is just not doing it

Most of my pain seems to be in the location of screws and plate

Is this the same for you?

I tried the paracetamol but didnt do it for me either, so went back to zapain, bt ony taking 1 in the morningat what ever time i got up which more oftern or not would b around  10 ish, 1 around 4 then took 2 at night which helped me sleep. Now only take at night as they do help with my sleeping. I didnt want to go back onto them but the pain was too bad not to. You may ony need them for a few days, why go through the pain I say, plus if your pain is under control you will find you cn do more with your walking. My pain areas were around the ankle joints on both sides, but the worst was on the outside of my ankle which is where the biggest plate is, plus in my calve, oooch that was bad. Found a warm hot water bottle helped with calve pain. Dont get pain now just a lot of aching. We are getting there slowly...sx
