7 weeks post carpel tunnel surgery and making slow progress

I had carpel tunnel release on 30th July and have been signed off work until 1st October. My doctor thinks I'm healing slowly and has suggested a blood test to check for under active thyroid, although I had this done in march and it was a negative result. He has also advised wearing a night splint again. My scar looks ok now, but my wrist is very painful and weak. It has been making me feel very anxious as I moved house 2 weeks after surgery and there's a lot to do and I also feel guilty about being off work for so long!

Everyone has said how it takes different lengths of healing time - although I don't know what makes it take longer for some people, I know what you mean though - that's what worries me as I have to be able to start the gardening up again in march and I worry there won't be enough strength in my hands for doing edging and digging.  Hope you start to get better soon

It is still painful to brush my teeth, wash and dry myself, hold my phone and drive. I haven't driven further than about a mile! I had no idea about any of this before I had the op, although I know everyone heals differently!

I will see how I get on......If it's like that I could ask to leave left hand till next autumn......If I could put up with it :-)

That's the only thing isn't it, putting up with the numbness and pins & needles! Nightmare!
