i am now 7 weeks post T K R.
Went to see physiotherapist last Monday and got discharged after seeing how i was walking and watch me go up and down stairs,
They said i could drive but to wait until i have seen the consultant which was last Thursday.
She said after examining my knee that i could drive but only short distances at first.
After the first 3 weeks which can only be described as hell on earth i am now able to get around and even went up some step ladders the other day.
I find if i am on it for a long time it does get very stiff but this is expected after such a major op.
I still find it a bit clunky at times and the consultant said its normal.
I have had to work hard to get to this point but the hard work has paid off.
Ido have some arthritis in my other knee but nowhere as bad as the one i had replaced which has not been good for a while due to a bad motorcycle accident in the 70s even the surgeon described it as horrendous.
My first drive out is tomorrow to get an M O T as it has now run out.

Same with me. I had my TKR on April 11th 2018. The wound would not heal and I’ve been toing and froing to see the Surgeon who has 4 patients with hard to heal wounds. I’m hoping that this coming Friday, I will be discharged. As time passes, my knees abilities seem to be coming right. I feel for each and every one who has had multiple problems. May the healing force be with you. 🙃

They used a pico dressing which i had to go back and have it changed every 5 days.
The surgeon came in to see it and used a silver nitrate stick as he said the problem was the layers of the wound were not lining up all is good with the incision now.

Congratulations! Sounds like you are doing very well!
It continues to improve right up to a year and beyond...
It's always oddly rewarding when the surgeon who has done the knee testifies to the bad state it was in!
My new knee is miles better than the old one...I know not everyone finds this but the whole leg is bionic in comparison to the unoperated leg.
So I am sure you will continue to go from strength to strength!
