8 months since rectocele repair and still suffering

Back on painkillers to get me through the day at work. The worst thing is I still can't do a bm without stool softeners. I cannot go to the toilet as it seems my muscles up there either don't work or there is a blockage. Referred back to hospital 3 months ago and appt on 2nd Dec to start the whole process again! Im in so much pain after work i cannot sit down. Has surgery failed or is something else wrong? In more discomfort now than before surgery. Can anyone give me some advice pleasplease ?

    Hi jo jo

I think it all goes back to gynaecologists & colorectal consultants not communicating with each other. We've said this time and time again on here & I think until they do we ladies are going to continue with these problems.

I had an anterior repair & hysterectomy nearly 3 years ago & have had bowel problems ever since. My urogynaecologist says my AR has partially failed & I also now need a rectoenterocele repair. But ..... my GP is advising me against having any more surgery as he thinks I might end up worse off!

I didn't have any bowel problems before the op but since I have had continual problems. I don't have a problem going, in fact it's quite the opposite & I need to go too often (sorry) and I get a lot of low back pain. I don't think in my case it's the pudential nerve as my pains aren't down below but I think it's bowel related.

if your muscles are too tight you can have a Botox injection that lasts about 12 weeks to relax that area but you would need professional advice on that one. You can have a simple test to check your muscle tone (manometry test?? - not sure how you spell it)

If only you could get the hospital departments to communicate with each other. Write down all your questions before your appointment so you don't forget any. I wish I'd known about this site before I had my op!
