8 week positive update on Zoloft 50mg.

If you are like me looking for reassurance that things will eventually be back to normal then take some time to read.I'm on week:8 (50mg) and let me tell you stick it out!!! It really does get worse before it's gets better. The first 2 weeks i was very anxious and of course still dealing with my anxiety week 3,4,5,6 weren't so good either i was slowly feeling better but each day i still got anxiety. My side affects were numb face, being itchy at night and i had dry mouth for 2 days but both subsided, the worst side affect had to be suicide thoughts because you get so tired of dealing with such a horrible disorder,I'd like to think the side affects means the medication is doing something. You are not your anxiety,I REPEAT YOU ARE NOT YOUR ANXIETY!!! You will slowly start to feel more and more like yourself.I would say this medication is slow lol but it does work.I constantly logged on here to read positive stories and that alone gave me so much hope.Between week 7/8 i realized i wasn't waking up with the anxiety and i stopped getting it in the evening which meant it has started working for me.I'm 90% back to my old self and let me tell you I'm so grateful.I know anxiety is uncomfortable and excuse my friend a b***h! lol but take day by day and don't focus so much on the bad wondering if you won't get better because you will. You will have bad days and good ones but hold on to the good ones. This is a journey and i know im not anxiety free and i don't know when it'll come back but thats not my focus, my focus is living and being appreciate there pills that help.I wish all of you struggling the best and you are not alone in this 😃

    Hi jesscox92

We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologies for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.

If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. Their contact details are on our patient information leaflet here: https://patient.info/health/dealing-with-suicidal-thoughts, which also offers lots of other advice on how you can access the help you may need.

If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you're going through and will be able to help.

    Kindest regards

    Hi Jess

Are you taking Sertraline for anxiety? If so, could you explain what you mean when you say you were slowly getting better?

I'm 4 weeks 2 days in; 50mgs for 2 wks, then 100 and my anxiety is still really bad. I have noticed it reduce a little bit in the afternoon but mornings are horrendous.

I appreciate everyones experience is different but would be interested to know what improvements you noticed and what the timescales were

Great news that you are feeling better; I totally agree with your sentiments about anxiety and wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy!

I hope you go from strength to strength and regain the last 10% of yourself!

I take it for anxiety/depression.The first two weeks i was really anxious but that subsided so after it was just my anxiety, thats what i meant for the first two weeks(slowly feeling better). But weeks 3-6 were horrible,it felt like it was never going away.I had it morning/afternoon/nights.It felt like as if it never really left .Week 7 i noticed my anxiety was getting way better, week 8 i had good days that eventually i feel back to myself i would say 100% .I say wait till 9-12 weeks to know if its working or not.Im glad mine was 8 weeks. But definitely hold on to the good days and good feelings.Youre not alone:) and it will work.

You're still on a low dose, especially for anxiety. Maybe you should consult your doctor about an increase,

From what I xan gather, its a question of finding the right dose for you

Stay positive...its just a blip and I'm sure you will be fine. keep me posted.

      Hi Jess

How are you feeling now? I started to feel much better on 125 mgs but the anxiety still there so after 2 weeks I went up to 150. That was last Monday and initially I felt great; back to normal! But yesterday I noticed I felt detached from life, and this started to fuel inward thinking and strange thoughts. Then this morning I woke up and the anxiety started coming back.

I think this could be delayed side effects from the dose increase so I'm going to give it a while on 150 and see if it improves, but keen to know how you are doing as your experience sounds similar to mine.

Hope things have improved for you

      Hello,Samantha

So I upped my dose to 100 on Monday.Literally, the next 4 days I felt so good then Friday night I got anxiety and yesterday as well.I know I'll get side effects so I'm trying not to worry so much.I start a new job this week so I'm nervous to be dealing with the side effects. But hopefully this will be our dose!
