hi all. I'm 8 weeks on 20mg citalopram. I had a really good 7/8 days where my anxiety was not half as bad and had a nice xmas and new year. but the last 2 days anxiety has been so high. feel like a panic attack is coming any second and constant worrying thoughts (health anxiety) is this quite normal or has anyone else experienced this?!

Louise I'm currently going through the exact same thing. I'm 8 weeks in (4 weeks on 10mg & 4 weeks on 20mg). I too was also feeling better for a few weeks and had a nice Xmas, things were really looking up. But these last few days anxiety has took over again and I've spent most of today crying. I've been reassured that it is just a 'blip' and that 8 weeks is still quite early in. I think the fact we had a nice time over Xmas and were feeling better and now it's over and January is generally miserable anyway is definitely not helping us. Kinda makes you feel like you're going backward and doubting the medicine doesn't it 😦. I do believe since we have experienced good days though that this medicine is and will work for us, we just have to get through these blips on the road to recovery. Try practicing some self-care on days like these, it's all we can do really. I like to read, watch a familiar lighthearted TV show, cuddle a hot water bottle and sip chamomile tea. And if I feel like crying, I do. I hope you feel better soon, I really do. And in meantime I'm here for you talk to if you need a friendly ear 😃 x

it's very normal you are having a blip. I'm 12 weeks on and like you had a horrible blip around week 8 and 9. then felt better for few days and blip again. still early days although I know it doesn't feel like it. and also if you have period coming up that will trigger anxiety..

    Hey Louise,

I too am having a blip. Went up to 10mg (escitalopram) a little over 4 weeks ago. Felt ok most od the time; however, Ive been anxious, nauseous, light headed, headache, and some shakiness for the last 5 days. Not really sure what to think. Thinking the medication is still trying to adjust.

Doing my best to remain calm and not get caught up in the thoughts or physiological feelings.

Hoping this time will pass soon!
