8 weeks on sertraline and still anxious.

I’m on sertraline 50mg for eight weeks now and I’ve reading reviews and most people is better by this stage, I still get extremely anxious and dark thoughts, I was thinking of going to my gp on Friday to increase it to 100mg.

Does 100mg work better? And should I do that?

    Hi Rose

Probably worth discussing this with your gp. But the therapeutic dose is 50mg so you should have seen some improvement. If you do not have side effects, may be worth giving it another couple of weeks.

    Hey Rose,

I thnk you would need to up the dose. Actually Lynn the therapeutic dose is dependant on the person, so some people hit it at 100mg. Or atleast thats what my doc said.

Rose, 50mg is pretty low and starting dose so chat with your doc

      Hi Husam

My doc said the therapeutic dose was 50mg. I took 150mg for 4 months last year and it gave me tremors. My own preference is to take as lower dose as possible.

Sertraline is a very slow acting drug and 50mg is a low dose. Most people feel better on and off at 50mg but sometimes they have side effects. I personally did not feel better until I reached 150mg.

Please be patient and don't rush increases. Take med same time every day and drink lots of water.

    Good Luck
