8 weeks out from tkr and pain continues

I am so glad to have found this for him . I had total knee replacement surgery almost 8 weeks ago . I have been going to physical therapy three times a week and do my exercises at home. my range of motion is still only between 90 and 95 as I have a lot of stiffness and pain. I have already had one manipulation under anesthesia almost two weeks ago which which did me absolutely no good. I'm afraid my surgeon is going to recommend a second one and I do not want to have a second one. Has anyone had this type of experience? thanks in advance for your responses.

.Welcome Kathy, Glad to have you here. This is a great place with lots of folks that share how they are doing. Last Monday was 5 weeks since my TKR. First 4 weeks were Pure Hell. Worst pain in my life, undermedicated. No relief. I just hit 5 weeks this last Monday. PT 3 times a week. and home exercises. My knee does not want to bend and I can't straighten it down either. I heard 6 weeks was supposed to be when things got some better. I had read about the procedure you had when they do the manipulation under anesthesia , heard it is pretty painful after. But never heard they did it so soon after surgery. Why was it done so soon? Is your surgeon concerned there is something wrong? I have to ice at least 3 times during the day and another 3 at night time when the pain wakes me up. The PT's say I am doing great. But it seems like I have a little bit less pain and 20 minutes later my knee is stiff and the numbness and pain are right back. I keep hearing this is normal. I can't drive either. I am sure more folks will be able to help you or explain whats going on. I sure would not go thru that procedure again. Please keep us posted. Take care....

good morning. my manipulation was performed mostly due to poor range of motion. I have only reached 90. it set me back initially as expected...but the goal was to improve ROM by breaking through scar tissue. That hasn't happened. my knee is still somewhat swollen so I am icing every couple of hours. it also hurts pretty much any time other than when I am still. ROM has not improved over the past two weeks. I keep hoping each day to feel some improvement...but not happening at this point. I walk most of the time with no cane....but with a limp.

was hoping to be much better at 8 weeks so this is discouraging.
