8 weeks post op

here I am again...It's a God send to read all the posts. Very encouraging and informative. When we think we are unique, just keep reading and find others with same issue. "RAW" yes, I too have the feeling of my knee being very, very sensitive. When I touch it yes, it feels RAW! Like skin barely covers the nerves. My PT advised to de sensitize the area by using various fabrics to gently massage, alternatinfg from rough to medium to soft. I'm 8 weeks post op and some nights the pain is 10 with no relief from the oxy. May have become immune to it and wonder what else I may try? Last night I tried 2 alleve and 1 tylenol....helped a bit but not enough to help me sleep. Here I am a new "great granma", but that little girl inside still wants her mama!!!

I was on codeine so I don't know about the oxy.
things will get better. I am at 15 weeks and am doing very well. I sleep well, if I do t use my iPad before sleep. The blue lite emitted is disruptive to the melatonin that induces sleep.
Feel better and I know what u mean about wanting mommy!!

dont do the alive and Tylenol. I am on oxy and added 2 extra strength Tylenol pm, per doc to that. Check with your doc first. This has allowed me to sleep for 4 -6 hours. I went back to surgeon today and he gave me Tramadol to use at night.....he said the oxy interferes with sleep for most people....I am 7 weeks post op.
i have to admit....my 83 yr old Mom came and stayed with me for 4 nights when I was 4 weeks post op.....just her being here relaxed me. I understand...and I am a grandma of 6.

My prescriptions are monthly from the GP (or use their online site) and I have a health check every few months I have to sign for the meds at the pharmacy. The local pharmacy I use have a Health & Safety ruling that every now and then they sit and talk to you regarding the drugs you are on and that you are aware they are addictive. If I go away and forget to take ample supply and walk into a pharmacy I have to jump through all sorts of hoops, nothing can be done by email, has to be done by fax, the pharmascist has to speak with my GP as do I (to make sure I am me) and I have to supply my drivers licence, and because I still use my paper one, show my passport. As you can imagine, I wont do that again! What I am saying is, your GP is there for you, they can't help you if you can't talk to them. Be brave, don't stay in pain. Have a lovely weekend x

I hear what you are saying about sensitivity on the scar. I had the same issue, had to sleep with the leg uncovered (and it was winter to boot).
Eventually that does subside but it's still sensitive. I rub in some Vitamin E oil before bed to soften it up and loosen the scar tissue. Give it a shot and good luck!

thanks....I took the Tramadol and slept like a baby last night. 9pm till 8:30 this morning.....yes I woke a little once or twice....slowly moved my leg to new position and fell right back to sleep. No waking to the throbbing.
