8 weeks post op vaginal hysterectomy and bowel prolapse repair.

I am now 8 weeks post op, went away for two nights to Yorkshire with hubby, all I did was moan about my lower back pain and pressure on bladder, such a moaner I know. Got back today, saw doc who said water sample is clear and not sure why pain there. Said will do blood test for kidney function and I've got to keep a wee diary, . . that don't help the pain that I have right now tho does it.!!!so depressed again, that pressure feeling inside keeps making me think my bladder has prolapsed, she examined me today and said it's okay. But I should of said do it with me standing up? It's not hanging out or anything like that, just feels a horrid feeling inside, like I've mentioned before, a tampon falling out feeling. I really really can't see any light at the end of my tunnel right now. Starting to wonder if I can live like this for the rest of my life. I know I would never consider any surgery again after this. It's traumatised me totally

I'd love to be one of these ladies on here who say I feel great, best thing I ever did. . . But can't ever see it.

I'm so sorry you are in pain. I hope it gets figured out soon and you'll feel better soon.

Oh Val that sounds awful for you.....could you get an appointment with your surgeon???

After trying last time and being told by a stand in one that I'd have to just get used to it basically, wouldn't try again. Don't get anywhere.

      Hi Val

Sorry to hear your news. That's absolutely shocking about not being able to make an appointment with your surgeon...what's that all about?! My surgeon gives all his patients his mobile phone number in case there is anything urgent. Not that that helps you. Perhaps you overdid it at the weekend? I'm 4 weeks 3 days post abdominal hysterectomy and all I did extra yesterday was get up a few more times than usual off the lounge and walk upstairs and today I am crouched over in pain. I can empathise with you, although at 8 weeks post op I can only imagine how disappointed you must be feeling. My only suggestion would be (what I am about to do) is take some stronger pain killers and spend the day doing absolutely nothing! Then maybe tomorrow it will be a little better. Apparently internal stitches can take up to 6 months to fully dissolve...perhaps that might account for some of the discomfort? x

Hi Val, if you can call the surgeons secretary and explain your issues and request a review ( what your asking for is not unreasonable), if you don't get anywhere with that see if your hospital has a PALS ( patient advice liason service) who will be able to help you.....in the meantime I agree with Kathryn take some stronger pain killers and rest up for a couple of days....try soaking in the bath with some Dead Sea salts too..... I read on here re some ice packs....although I did have a TAH I still do have some vaginal pain.....someone suggested ice packs....my husband thought he was being funny and went to get some frozen peas....

!!!!!!I  actually warmed one of those neck bean bags in the microwave and sat on that in my underwear (attractive!).... I did find that it provided some local release....x

Thanks bridy, think I'll just keep resting and taking the pain killers, as the thought of seeing the consultant, if he's available and more surgery would tip me over the edge so to speak. So going to suffer in silence. Will see what the blood tests bring back oven though I don't hold out much hope

      Thanks take care X
