hey everyone hope you are all doing ok. just an update as I said I'd let use know how I'm getting on I have just completed 12 weeks in rehab. I did well through the programme but finding things tough at home. I'm going to AA but I think I'm experiencing post acute withdrawal symptoms. does anyone have any advice about this?

Wow! I'm so proud of you! Congratulations on 82 days. Being home is tough but I found it got easier with time ( now 2 years 5 months sober) I don't really have any advise to offer but hang in there. 82 days is quite an achievement and am sure all of us want to hear you say 90 days, then 6 months... Keep us posted...Sending hugs 💗💗💗

Hi Vicky,
Lovely to hear from you!! Well done for completing the rehab - you've done so well as it was for such a long time.
What sort of symptoms are you having? Have you got 24 hour support i.e a sponsor?
When did you come out of rehab and are you back at work?
Sorry for so many questions but I am genuinely interested in your journey so far.
So many congratulations to you for coming so far - you should be incredibly proud of yourself.
All the best
Claire xx
and to Smile47824: Fantastic - nearly 2 1/2 years!! Do you still have an urge for a drink every now and then or has all that gone?

hiya 🙂. thanks for your help. I'm very down one minute then laughing away again the next. Being horrible to my partner when I'm anxious. Just so so up and down like crazy. I'm going to AA this morning and going to ask for a few phone numbers. Haven't got a sponsor yet I haven't been to enough meetings yet to get to know someone well enough.
got out of rehab 2 days ago and not going back to work for another few weeks.
many thanks. Vicky xx

Vicky,
First, great job at keeping yourself sober for so long. It's an achievement worth being proud of. Not everyone can do this.
If these withdrawal symptoms continue, consider drinking plenty of water, or even lemonade, as a substitute for alcohol. Go online and conduct research on what you can do to address such symptoms.

I am delighted to read your post. 82 days! You seem like a very determined person and won't want to undo all your good work. I can understand it will be tough at home and you might get the urge to try 'just one little sip.' For me it got easier over time, but I must admit to being tempted. I find the most satisfying part is turning down a drink and telling them that don't drink anymore. Well done!

That's brilliant news, well done you should be very proud of yourself. If the post withdrawals continue I would maybe speak with your doctor or a member of staff from the rehab. Can I ask how you found being in rehab? I am currently waiting for funding to be placed in one for 12 weeks plus a 2 weeks detox. Be kind to yourself and remember all the hard work you have put in to reaching 82 days xx
