9 months today since Left THR

hello fellow hippies

laying in my hospital bed I just realised it was 9 months ago ( April 14 th 2015 ) since I had my left hip done. I can't really say wether I have really benefited from having it done but it has managed to take a lot of the strain since my right hip collapsed. Only getting a few niggles. But maybe that is because I am on so many meds for the pain in right hip.

Please keep fingers crossed i get I get my hip done thie Tuesday. I am in agony and can hardly walk now after being forced against my better judgement to walk way too much round the ward.

I have been been layed up for the last 3 days I have had my oramorph increased and the times I have to take it shortened. I am also laying here with an ice pack made with dry ice on my right knee. Pressure sore all healed up just waiting to see what is going to happen over the weekend. If the ward doesn't get too busy. They might go ahead and get me done. I can't see me lasting another week in this state sad

it it is cold and frosty here 30 miles away where my house is it is snowing quite heavy.

Hope we all are doing well. If you have ice or snow please be careful

Some of us will have to do it metaphorically - due to surgery restrictions - but fingers and legs crossed for you on Tuesday

Hailea, wishing you all the luck in the world with this second hip replacement. May it make all of the difference for the better. You deserve a pain-free, mobile life. And, as you say, it may happen even sooner than Tuesday -- the sooner the better!

      Hi Annie

thankyou. Anything has got to be better than the constant nagging pain day in and day out sad

if if it is going to happen it won't happen till Tuesday. My surgeon only does his hip replacements on a Tuesday here. I won't know till after the weekend I guess so I am playing the waiting game again.

Just seen my surgeons registra and he has said he will arrange the pain team to come and see me today. I am in constant nagging pain now. He is not sure if I will be in surgery next week or not. But he is hoping the pain team can do something for me so I can mobilise and get me over the weekend pain free for a few days. I have been taking 5 mil oramorph every 2 hours and all I do is sleep. That's not good. sad  I don't want to risk DVT. I have been doing my foot pumps and trying to mobilise as much as I can. But the pain is just getting too much now. I even joked I would go out the main entrance and walk infront of a car so I would get done quicker the Doc was shocked. I said all I want is a break from the pain. Some where I can go just to take the weight off the joints for a bit. I am so fed up of being in pain. The meds work for about an hour then the pain is back sad

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain, darling ... I hope the pain team can help you to get at least a couple of hours being pain free -

What could be a reason your surgeon won't operate on you ?  Emergency cases?

I remember that my ex-husband (anesthesiologist) was assigned to a pain clinic and administered epidurals for severe cases ... I might be wrong though ...

    I wish I have a magic wand .....

      Hi renee

thank you my surgeon only operates on a Tuesday. They had to wait for my pressure sore to heel and make sure no infection. All healed nice and clean and dry. So next step is my op which I hope will be this coming Tuesday. It is looking promising now because I am being moved from this ward to another while they use the weekend to deep clean the whole ward

i am the only one left here now it is great but clearing and cleaning the whole ward means that it is looking very posative for my hip to be done next week now. I am scared but I need to get out of pain. It is more than I can cope with now. I have really had enough. I still remember the releif of having those first few steps with my left leg and my new hip. No pain I was so glad I could walk even with the crutches and there was no grinding pain. I wasn't even in pain from the op.
