9 week check up
Posted , 6 users are following.
first check up had since having op 19th Dec due to having to cancel 6 wk appointment.
all restrictions lifted. just informed if something hurts. stop doing it.
hip stem made of stainless steel. ball ceramic. and pouch for ball to sit in a plastic substance.
they want to do my other hip, but this will be a big job as no ball on stem and no pouch for it to sit, so I have asked if I can do this one again christmas time to which they have agreed, as I have holidays booked.
asked about physio and excercises as hear on here lots get referred to physio and have exercise sheets, and informed dont really offer physio and best exercise to walk and do stairs to strengthen regularly to which I am doing, so all in all happy..

Hi Vickie, your story is so much like mine. Seven weeks post op, an appointment with the surgeon which must have lasted two minutes - everything ok, yes, goodbye. So I went home and did some light gardening. I've never been offered any physio - and I even had to arrange with my own GP to have the staples removed.

that's bad that you even had to arrange to have staples out 🙄
thanks and hope we continue to get stronger on the recovery path

so, good news!
i have the same hip as you. Glad everything is progressing as it should. Amazing the differences between all the NHS Trusts!

Well done Vicki, all sounds good!
I was the same, no physio offered, ( just the initial exercise sheet from the hospital), just told to keep on exercising and walking...
I wish you all the best.

I am so pleased that everything is fine Vickie,
You were right to delay your next op if you have holidays booked up but hope all goes well when you do have it done. I did not have a replacement hip but metal and screws 6 weeks ago and i am still swollen and get groin pain. I know my op is different to yours but i have to admit i worry about these pains and swelling as read to much on google. I didnt have a follow up appointment booked so basically left on my own and not knowing if everything is healing as it should. Oh well i guess i will have to see how things go in the next couple of weeks hopefully the groin pain and swelling will settle down.

yes Mandy that's what I thought. As it's a more difficult operation, we not risking being in pain before the holiday.
Mandy any op no matter what you have done is stress to your body and I believe you should be able to speak or see someone after the op. could you not find your consultants secretary details and ask her for an appointment or if someone available to speak with about your progress? my consultant secretary was very good when right at beginning I had a concern. you should be able to see someone. I'd defo ask.
I also steer clear of google these days as too much conflicting information. I prefer to speak on forums to people who can help abs have experiences.
let us know how you get on...
ice pack I was told help with the swelling. I personally had known but loads of people swear by them.

So does that mean your hip doesn't sit in anything and you can't weight bear on it, you are doing really well with this one aren't you
