9 weeks on 10mg still up and down, is this normal

I've been taking 10mg of Citalopram for 9 weeks, up until 10 days ago I did'nt feel much change. However I had 10 days of feeling great and more like myself. However the last couple of days I've felt very anxious and not 100%, this has not me for 6, as I thought I had cracked it!! Is it still early days or do I need my GP to consider increasing my dose? My GP is ringing me next week for a review. I just want to feel normal and back to my old self again 😔😔

you need to give it at least 12 weeks, ssris are not a drug to mess with trust me i know, also absolutely brutal to come off, stick with 10mgs x

From everything I have read on this forum and from previous experience, recovery really takes a long time, like months. If you have seen signs of improvement, then things are definitely heading in the right direction. Setbacks are part of the recovery, you should
expect to get them. Over time they will appear less frequently and be less intense.

Thank you, that's really good to hear, I've never been on AD before. Im definitely better than I was at the start. I think I'm just very impatient and want to be feeling "normal" again lol I know everyone is different, I did have 5 weeks on Sertraline before changing to Citalopram and the side effects were the worse experience of my life, I lost 20lb in weight and felt dreadful, so a little scared. This forum is brilliant for information and reassurance, pleased I found it.

I know what you mean, I am the same! Unfortunately it appears recovery cannot be hurried and it comes to each of us in their own time. There is lots of valuable info on this forum and it looks like everyone goes through more or less the same process. Totally agree, this site is so helpful.
How are you doing now? I have found that this time round the physical symptoms got a lot better quickly, but I am experiencing quite low mood which I don't recall in the same way from the previous time.

I'm the same, I dont have any physical symptoms but still have a bit of low mood. It's not as bad as it was, but just feel there is a bit more room for improvement. My appetite has returned and I'm eating better. I had a review with my GP about 3 weeks ago ( 6 weeks on Cit) and she said I was where she expected me to be at, my next review is Thurs, she said she would only look to increase my dose if I plateau for a few weeks. I'm not really wanting to increase as on a low dose of 10mg, Like I said I had about 10 great days, then I've dipped a little in the last week!! Someone called "Katecogs" posted an article on here about how SSRIs work on the serotonin in our brains, it was really helpful. I suppose we have to be patient and take it day by day, but easier said than done!!!
