I am so sorry you are going through all of this, Sarah. I went through all of the side effects, as well. I could not handle it anymore so I reduced my medication. But then I went through terrible withdrawal so please slowly slowly taper off if you decide to go off of your medication. As I just told someone else who recently posted, being on this forum is very helpful and many people told me it takes about 12 weeks for the fluox to really settle into your system. talk to your dr. and decide what is better for you… To give it three more weeks and maybe have a "bridge medication" to help you get through the side effects? Or to slowly taper off the medication and try handling your stress and anxiety with therapy and maybe some yoga or natural l calming supplements. Good luck and know we are here for you!

thank you for your reply, did you manage to come off meds in the end? if so how long did it take for side effects to go? if not how long have you been on meds ? how are you now?

i decreased to 10 mg and still gad withdrawal (so if you decrease work with your dr (for example 15 mg every other day with the 20 then 10 evey other day-cgeck with your doctor because i did it too quickly). I am still on 10 mg and my sides effects and withdrawl have finally subsided after 5 wks. But i am 45 so probaly took longer.

Hi
I'm like you....
I'm on Prozac 40mg for 8 weeks. Anxiety seems a bit less but my mood is still low, dissociated and my hands are shaky. I sleep with Mirtazapine 15mg (below a therapeutic effect dose). I'm frustrated and disappointed with this slow progress.
But if I would give it up, I have to suffer withdrawal symptoms again....
You're young....younger the faster for psychotropic meds to kick in. I'm older....takes longer.
If you don't feel any effect, you should talk to your psychiatrist. In my case, 3 meds failed before Prozac.
