9 weeks on sertraline 😕

Hi All

I've now been on sertraline 50mg for 4 weeks and 100mg for 5 weeks. I had really bad side effects not sleeping worse anxiety. I've had some days of feeling dizzy. Now I feel scared and so depressed. I don't seem to enjoy anything. Started thinking what's the point 😟 .

I've been waiting for an appointment to see a psciatrist for over a month still not got a letter or date from them yet. I take propranolol 60mg a day to slow my racing heart beat.

I'm fed up feeling like this now is it time to change meds? Or up them to 150 mg

Any advice would be appreciated thankyou

Hey, it's still early days on the upped dose I think. It takes between 6-12 weeks to level out on any increase. I was on 50mg for 8 weeks, now 100mg for 12 weeks, I would say I started feeling better around week 9 on the upped dose of 100mg. Give it abit more time as sertraline does take a while to (kick in). I know it's hard but u r over the worst and if u change meds now u will have to go through it all again.Β

Thanks vikki. Yes don't think I can handle changing meds. I had such bad side effects when I started sertraline at one point I was nearly suicidal. The anxiety is less but I'm just left mega depressed πŸ˜’. Will try and hang in there with the hope that things will get better

I have only recently started taking Sertraline but from what I have been told and read it can take up to 12 weeks to start to feel the full effect of them. It sounds like you have started to feel some benefits with the anxiety going less so that is positve. I would just try and focus on a positive thing each day and hopefully it won't be long before your feeling the beneift for your depression.Β

    Hang in thereΒ

      Thanks Adam and Wendy

The ironic thing is, I've always suffered from anxiety panic attacks e.t.c. I never relised I was depressed before ,It's only now that my anxiety has lifted a little bit that the depression has surfaced.😒

      Than you for the replys

Hey rich. I also felt the same way, and felt they were making me worse and I nearly gave up on them, and I would of if it wasn't for the advice and guidance on this forum from other people who had persevered with them. I would say I am now feeling 80% -90% my old self. It is tough but try and take everyday as it comes and always think positive thoughts, keep busy, learn a new hobby. I promise u that one day soon u will wake up and have an amazing day and from then on it will get better. I wish u well and keep me posted on how your doing smile
