9 weeks on Sertraline. On holiday

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have been on 50mg of Sertraline for the last 7 weeks after 2 weeks of 25mg. First few weeks were a struggle, heightened anxiety, feeling sick a lot but did help my depression almost straight away.

Last Saturday I have been in Florida on holiday and have been feeling so good. Not fully back to normal but doing so many things that I wouldn't want to do usually. I suffer with General/social anxiety and agrophobia. I hate big open spaces and bit crowds so coming to Orlando in the big theme parks and feeling so positive and my anxiety lowered so much has been great.

I don't know what my future on these tablets is, I still have my bad moments of feeling down and moments of anxiety, but I would never be able to have done this trip feeling how I do now without Sertraline.

I hope I continue to get better and hope everyone else the best!

    Hi

It's great to hear a positive story.

Iv had severe anxiety for the past 6 weeks now, scared to be on my own, scared to go out, can't go to work or uni, I don't really do much as I'm so anxious!! I started on sertraline 25mg 2 weeks ago (although the first week I was coming off citalopram so only taking sertraline every other day) iv been taking just the sertraline now for the past week. I am supppsed to go up to 50mg next week but I'm so scared of the side effects if I increase. I'm already struggling with the increased anxiety, sweating, tremors etc. How did you find the side effects going up to the 50mg from 25mg??

      Hi Claire

I got worse for 2 weeks after going up to 50mg, but 50mg isn't even a high dosage so there really isn't anything to worry about. I've never been anxious enough to have to stay indoors which I'm very sorry that you feel that way. I just can't do certain things such as shopping centres, airports and my work I am anxious for most of the day. Anywhere with crowds and open spaces generally. Sitting in restaurants that sort of thing.. I had a really good week about week 5, then for the next too weeks my anxiety increased, woke up in the early hours a lot.

Do you take your Sertraline in the morning or the evening ? I take mine on an evening and seams to help the side effects until later in the day atleast until they start to wear off a little.

I'm not 100% myself, I would say I feel 60% better.. Which is a lot lot better. If you want to ask me anything else about my experience so far or any other questions just ask. Private message me if you would prefer.

I am on week 5 now. 25mg for first 10 days then up to 50mg. I started having some good days but recently my anxiety has come back quit bad. I'm starting to feel a bit disheartened as I was hoping I would feel better than this by now. I also wake up with bad pains in my arms which has only just started happening. I'm hanging on in there for the light at the end of the tunnel though.

I wouldn't be able to say I'm afraid as everyone's anxiety is different and everyone reacts differently to medication. I am still suffering with breakthrough anxiety but it has taken 8-9 weeks to feel a difference.

I take mine between my evening meal and going to bed. I don't know myself whether to try it at a different time. My side effects have all but stopped completely.

Last week I had a great week with very little anxiety at all.. But the last two days I've felt anxious quite a lot of the day, but not extreme anxiety so I've been able to cope.

      Any other questions just ask
