9+weeks post A&P w/TOT sgy and last PM had bulge that I had to push in??!!! Is this nl?

Overall, I have been feeling much better and more like myself...able to do activities around the house - run some errands with hubby and am cautiously optimistic about my return to work next week (10 wks post).  If it weren’t for a major shoulder sgy done just 4 wks ago - would likely feel even better!  BUT - I was surprised last PM when after a day of light to moderate activity around my home (nothing even remotely crazy), I noticed an uncomfortable feeling towards the vaginal opening towards evening.  After trying to ignore it...it suddenly dawned on me that maybe a stitch had come loose and was poking me.  Upon checking - surprise turned to shock when I discovered not a stitch - but a bulge of tissue that I had to push back in.  I believe the pinching sensation I felt was that tissue bulging out. I am really concerned!  This AM it is not there...but of course it is because of resting all night.  I am trying to increase my “up/active” time to prepare for upcoming work days, but now wonder if this will become worse once back to my busy position and if it represents something has failed in the repair? Or, is this a normal event at this stage of recovery?  I had stage 2 rectocele and cystoceles...bordering 3s but never bulging outside.  This was frightening.  Has this happened to any of you?  I am doing my kegals and per MD they were good and effective.  Really worried and would appreciate support.  I think the bulge was from anterior side.

    Hi ED,

Must admit that after my first surgery; hysterectomy and front wall repair i did far too much mainly because having read on my post surgery booklet that i should be ok to return to work from 6-12 weks i based my activity levels on that timescale and thought I should be back to normal by 12 weeks.

i got a talking to by my sister who being 14 years older than me I viewed advise as out of date. Anyway didnt return to work until around 8 Months post op as i was looking for new job as i would not have been able to return to former employment. i did re-prolapse but mainly due to lack of info on long term aftercare and didnt find this forum until much later.

My re-prolapse didnt really cause any problems or restrict me too much until i was put on my feet at work and it gradually began to significantly get worse and this time was front and back wall and causing slight incontinance at the back end.

i think maybe tissue coming down may just be everything resettling which apparently happens sometime after stitches loosen and come away. but think probably best to check with GP just to put your mind at rest.

    Hi, ED ,

You know when I was around the same time I had a bulge in the vagina but not to the point of having to push anything back up. Before I had surgery, I had stage 4 cystocele and the bladder was literally fallen out. I sure hope that is not what you are saying. The bulge I felt and still feel only comes when I over do but I don’t feel the urge to push it back up. It is probably ok but maybe you should check with your doctor to be sure if it actually relocated when you pushed it.

Praying it is just from your activity level. Truthfully, I did nothing all the way to eleven weeks except light sweeping and walking about 3/4 miles a day.

You might just be doing too much but erring on the side of caution and contacting your doctor wouldn’t hurt and would ease your mind!🙏🙏

Thanks to each of you for the responses.  As it has not happened again, I think I am going to try and be patient...perhaps I did more than I thought.  If it happens again, I will definitely call my uro/gyn for a check!
