9 weeks post op hysterectomy

Hi all
I'm 9 weeks on Thursday post op,just had my uterus removed. It's not been the best of weeks with one thing or another. Firstly had water infection 1 week post op put on antibiotics. 4 weeks post op was diagnosed with internal infection (don't know how that happened followed everything I should of) weeks worth of strong antibiotics. 5 weeks post op my cartilage tore in my knee (had problems previously so there was a weakness there) swelled and the pain was terrible. Went walk in centre had it bandaged and was on crutches for 2 weeks with strong painkillers, tramadol. Went back to my doctors 3 days later due to swelling not going down was referred for scan (still waiting). Got referred to consultant who agrees with doctor so the scan is just to confirm,if it is it means a op to repair.
So I'm feeling a little fed up ha,ha. Still don't feel right from hysterectomy bowels and bladder still not settled and I'm getting period like pains. Being on crutches hasnt helped the abdominal area. I've emailed gyne consultant to go back and see her just to get checked over.
Anyway so to waffle on but I had an appointment with occupational health at work who is fully aware everything that is going on and she basically said to me she'll tell me when I'm fit for work!!!!!!!! I'm now stressing in case work start being funny with me. By now I would of thought I was getting ready to go back to work, but I'm not, with everything's that's going on I just can't see light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks for listening xx

Everybody's recovery is different but don't go back to work until you know yourself your fit to do so and listen occupational health they are very good in these circumstances, I used occupation health where I work and they were really supportive.

when you refer to an "internal infection" what sort do you mean and whereabouts?
I will be 3 weeks post op on Wednesday and in the last week I have developed a bowel infection! Like you Lynda I dont know how or why as I have not done anything I shouldnt! But I am in excruciating pain and am so fed up with it. Thought I was doing well but now seem to be back at the start and this infection is worse than the TAH and BSO
Thanks

My infection was around the site where my uterus was removed.
I can imagine the pain and general feeling of being unwell, you think you've turned a corner then something else happens. Have you been given antibiotics?? Hope you recover well and start to feel more like you.
Anyone who recovers with no problems are the lucky ones but from reading these forums it seems like the majority have some kind of problem(s) post op.
Drink plenty of fluids to flush your system and get well soon

So sorry to hear what a really tough time you are having. Don't let them bully you to go back to work. You are the one to decide, I am very sure your doctor will support you. You have had major surgery and the body will not be hurried, everyone heals at different rates and those nasty infections really take it out of you.
Don't forget to drink lots of water, it helps to keep the infections at bay. Really hope you feel better soon.

I have a really understanding Dr thankfully it's just getting in to see her that's the problem ha,ha.
I'll just have to stand my ground with work!!!!
I'm keeping up with my fluid intake, nothing better to flush the body.
Fingers crossed I'll be up and running properly soon.
Take care Lynda x

I look forward to you posting 'you feel on top of the world', it is a lovely place to be, my surgeon is my hero, he has taken 30 years off and I feel amazing. Best thing I ever did, was getting fixed.
